RFQ # 140P8321Q0061 Replace Doors at Visitor Centers AMENDMENT 0001 Attachment A Statement of Work Whitman Mission NHS

Amendment 0001-Statement of Work Whitman Mission National Historical Site Visitor Center Door Replacement

1.0 Background:

Whitman Mission National Historic Site’s Visitor Center located outside of Walla Walla, Washington, acts as the park’s main visitor contact station. Built in the 1960s the exterior doors are original to the building and need replacing. The doors have become difficult to operate and lack the new accessibility standards put in place for public facilities. During normal operations the Visitor Center sees thousands of people a year which causes great wear-and-tear on them.

Currently, the Visitor Center is closed due to COVID 19 but offers a great opportunity to replace the doors with little disruption to park operations.

2.0 Project Scope of Work

Project will replace all exterior doors, install automatic doors at lobby entrances, and lighted exit signs where applicable at the Visitor Center with the primary objective of increasing access to the facility and provide durable low-maintenance products that can withstand the use of the facility. The Architectural Barriers Act (ABA) and American Disability Act (ADA) will be pertinent to this project making sure that the facilities doors meet all the accessibility requirements and specifications. Currently, the entrance doors to the lobby, the most used doors at the facility, provide no automatic or assisted opening function. This project would look to accomplish installation of automatic doors at all three of the lobby entrances. Since the doors are aluminum store front doors, there is no header above them which makes installing automatic openers limited to just a few options (see products section and pictures below). The other exterior doors are metal doors which will need to receive new jambs and hardware. The door to Mechanical Room #3 will require louvered air vents since the room requires controlled ventilation. In addition, there are no lighted exit signs at the lobby entrance double doors, electrical will need to be installed for the electric door openers and the installation of lighted exit signs at all the main lobby exits per state and federal fire codes. Lastly, metal doors and jams will need to be painted to match existing colors and building layout.

Address: 328 Whitman Mission Road, Walla Walla, WA 99362

Schedule of Work Work can be done from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday, excluding federal holidays.
