About this file
This solicitation package includes specifications for seeding work at Badlands National Park. The solicitation seeks hydroseeding, mulching and fertilizer application services to rehabilitate the south unit wastewater system. Key specifications include using a seed mixture suited for the local biotype, as well as a hydraulically-applied fiber mulch blend that is 100% biodegradable, non-toxic and composed of recycled wood and cellulose fibers. A slow-release nitrogen-based fertilizer must be uniformly incorporated into the hydromulch slurry at a rate of 400 pounds per acre. The work must be performed in accordance with the detailed seeding, fertilizing and hydroseeding specifications.

Specifies a hydraulically-applied, erosion control product category of Hydraulic Mulch (HM) – Blend. The Blend HM must be 100% biodegradable, non-toxic, made in the United States and composed of 100% recycled thermally refined (within a pressure vessel) virgin wood fibers and cellulose fibers. The HM shall be phytosanitized, free from plastic netting, and upon application form an intimate bond with the soil surface to create a continuous, porous, absorbent and flexible erosion resistant blanket that allows for rapid germination and accelerated plant growth B. Tackifier shall be Non-toxic linear anionic polymer, synthetic, free of weed seed and organic containments, bonding mulch matrix to the soil.
C. Fertilizer: Recommended for grass, slow release nitrogen; (15-25-10) having 50% Neutalene slow release nitrogen applied at a rate of 400 pounds per acre, uniformily mixed in hydromulch slurrytopsoil.
D. Water: Clean, fresh and free of substances or matter that could inhibit vigorous growth of grass.
