Text version
Q: Will the park require that all above ground tanks be placed on a concrete pad and anchored with straps?
A: The park has researched this issue and based on a review of NFPA 58 (2021 edition), full concrete pads under the tanks and strapping are not required for above-ground tanks. Tanks must be placed on non-combustible surface and not directedly on the ground; the tanks observed during the site visit set on concrete blocks are adequate. Please reference the specific provisions in NFPA 58 that must be adhered to.
Q: Teton County is requiring that all new LP tanks be buried underground, will the park also require this?
A: The National Park Service follows NFPA which does not require that new tanks to be buried underground, therefore the park will not require new tanks to be buried. The county requirement appears to be based off of International Fire Code (2018).
