5.0 Background & Site Description:
A. See attached “jpgs” for approximate location of the project installation site. A site visit is strongly recommended contact:
Mike Eberle at 701-527-1524.
6.0 Technical Cost Proposal: The contractor shall provide a price to design, install and commission a high clearance ground mount solar system with all the necessary electrical connections to connect the photovoltaic (PV) array to a Montana Dakota Utilities meter.
7.0 Specific Requirements
1. The contractor shall provide photovoltaic design that is compatible with agricultural research needs of the NGPRL (Agrivoltaics), and shall install and commission a high clearance (14ft high) ground mount solar system that is a 45.36kW DC. This includes:
2. The contractor will provide all the trenching and electrical work needed to complete the job in accordance with local codes.
3. The contractor shall provide and install eighty-four (84) bifacial solar modules of approximately 540W.
a. The contractor shall install the PV arrays in the area South of the rain intercept shelter (“barn structure”) but as distant from the structure as possible, staying http://www.wbdg.org/ffc/dod/unified-facilities-guide-specifications-ufgs http://www.wbdg.org/ffc/dod/unified-facilities-guide-specifications-ufgs http://www.afm.ars.usda.gov/ppweb/pps-and-
Page 4 of within the boundaries of the pasture. The structure will affect the microclimate at the PV arrays, thus affecting our agrivoltaics research. The configuration and spacing of the arrays need to allow for agricultural research and allow for future expansion. Each array needs to be spaced apart at a distance equal to its size.
For example, if the array is 52 x 12 feet, there needs to be an empty area of at least 52 x 12 feet surrounding each array.
4.
5. The contractor shall provide and install a 50kW (AC) 3-phase
208V inverter or two (2) 25kW inverters (or equivalent).
6. The contractor shall provide and install four (4) high-clearance ground mount systems. Each wide enough to support 21 bifacial solar modules and mounts shall have manually adjustable tilt angles of up to 46 degrees. Expected angle for the solar array is 180 degrees (oriented South).
7. The contractor shall provide and install anchoring systems for the high-clearance ground mount systems that are capable of withstanding local weather conditions.
8. The contractor shall provide and install trenching (2-3 feet in depth), boring, and wire run to connect photovoltaic array with Montana Dakota Utilities meter in building 3 of the Northern Great Plains Research Laboratory.

10. The contractor shall be responsible for any utility line locations needed to cover the excavation areas both public and private.
The contractor shall be responsible for any damage that may be caused because of any trenching or excavation activities.
11. The contractor must include all required materials and equipment needed to complete the installation.
12. The contractor shall be responsible for backfilling and relandscaping any areas of trenching and excavation and return the areas to grade and re-seed any areas deemed by the COR. The grass seed and work shall be approved by the COR before considered complete.
13. The contractor shall provide and install underground waterproof conduit and connectors for the wire from the start of the boring site to the building termination site/MDU meter site. Approximately 150ft. The connection point is tied to the grid through MDU so the array can participate in net metering.
14. The contractor shall meet all standard required OSHA requirements.
15. The contractor shall provide and install any necessary
Page 5 of upgrades to the service pole/meter for tie in with the system, service panel and/ or transformers necessary.
16. The contractor shall provide the electrical components, hardware, and supplies for the solar PV system wiring.
17. The contractor shall interconnect the application with a single-line electrical drawing and site plan.
