About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) file from a site visit for a roofing replacement project for the U.S. Forest Service at the Stanley Administrative Site in Idaho. The project involves replacing asphalt shingle roofs on multiple housing units, with specific details confirmed during a site visit. Key project requirements include replacing fascia boards at unit #11, potentially replacing up to 3 sheets of plywood sheathing per roof, and installing new roofing materials with a 2-year workmanship warranty and 25-year material warranty.

The site visit clarified operational parameters, including work hours (quiet hours from 6pm to 8am, no weekend work restrictions), and noted that residents will remain in the units during construction. Contractors must maintain building access and keep worksites clean. The project is located at the Sawtooth National Recreation Area in Stanley, Idaho, and was posted by the Department of Agriculture Forest Service under solicitation number 1240LT25Q0008, with a site visit conducted on August 8th at the Sawtooth NRA Headquarters Visitor Center parking lot.

See note 6 on sheet A-102-P Are there any active leaks? Does the sheathing need to be replaced? There are no known active leaks. We assume that some of the sheathing was damaged previously, but that won’t be known until the old shingles are removed. The schedule of items has 96sqft (3 sheets of plywood) of sheathing planned for each roof but the true quantities will be verified after the old roof is removed.

Does the soffit at North Fork need to be repaired? If repairs are required they will have to be modified into the contract. The FS can take care of the peeling paint.

Will there be people living in the houses during construction? People are expected to be living in all of the units during construction so its is important that access to the buildings is maintained and the worksites are kept clean.
