Except as provided herein, all terms and conditions of the document referenced in Item 9 A or 10A, as heretofore changed, remains unchanged and in full force and effect .
1. Our largest sliding doors are 8¿W x 8¿H, not 16¿x12¿ like specified. Additionally, you typically cannot mount a 12¿H door on a structure with 12¿H endwalls, as you typically need at least a 1¿ clearance for framing. I was surprised to see that in the Rimol spec. Would a 14¿W x 11¿H steel rollup door (link w/ pictures and spec here:https://www.farmtek.com/farm/supplies/ProductDisplay?mfPartNumber=111569N) be acceptable? Otherwise, you¿ll need to adjust to 13-14¿H sidewalls to fit such a tall door, due to endwall headers and framing getting in the way. Having doors over-hang the structure¿s endwall also presents a large concern for wind damage, which a rollup door solves, while offering a similar rough opening.
USDA Answer: We originally looked into rollup doors. The purpose for the 8W¿x12H¿ doors that are intended to be mounted on the exterior of the building is to give the researchers maximum use of the openings which is what the researcher wants. Rimol will provide the sliding doors specified in the PWS.
2. Using exhaust fans on each upper-gable will lead to subpar ventilation and static pressure issues, burning out fan motors prematurely, and causing a sub-par environment for plants. We typically will design for an exhaust fan on one gable wall and a louver on the other, to promote adequate airflow and optimal air exchange. Please see the attached JPG and the highlighted equipment to see what I¿m speaking about. To accommodate this proven design, would it be acceptable to replace the (4x) 36¿ exhaust fans with (2x) 48¿ exhaust fans and (2x) 54¿ louver intake?
USDA Answer: The USDA agrees with the contractor regarding the ventilation issues. Conversation with the greenhouse manufacturer recommends two 36¿ fans in the gable and two 36¿x60¿ louver intakes in the opposite gable on each greenhouse for a total of four (4) 36¿ fans and four (4) 36¿x60¿ louvers.
3.Please clarify the quantity and location of yard hydrants, interior hose bibs, and frost-free hose bibs(if any).
USDA Answer: We want a total of 4 freeze-proof yard hydrants inside the greenhouse, one nearly centered at each of the 30¿ walls. Another freeze-proof yard hydrant shall be provided for the pavilion on at the nearest corner post to the main underground water line run to the greenhouse.
4. Is Automated Logic the actual building controls company, if not, who? And, is there a contact person/number for the building control/building management system?
USDA Answer: Yes, a new USDA laboratory using Automated Logic will be completed soon. All new structures will need to connect to the system. Currently, the controls to be installed in the greenhouse will be standalone, but will be connected to the main system in the future. Note, work statement requires an empty conduit with pullstring run to the barn. Per the Automated Logic rep, the description for the controls system in the work statement should suffice to provide connectivity to Automated Logic products.
We do not have a USDA contact person, however, I have provided the Logic Control Solutions contact below.
Todd Cardella Procurement Manager, Logic Control Solutions, 829 Phillips Road, Victor, NY 14564 C: 585.905.8016 T: 585.424.5340 x218 F: 585.424.5369
5. Do we need to install a drain inside the greenhouse? If so, how many?
USDA Answer: Drainage is necessary for both gravel/crusher run floor and the concrete pad option. This is a performance work statement, therefore, number, size, type drainage shall be left up to contractor to design in the areas where the yard hydrants will be located.
