RE : DeBary Public Safety Complex , DeBary, FL Conformed Documents Submittal (Revisions to Building Permit Application)
The following is in response to the Building Official City of DeBary, November 03,2014
Comment # 1: Provide Geotech Report Response: Comment Noted. Geotech Report attached.
Comment # 2: Mezzanine (delete) all sheets not a mezzanine Response: Comment Noted. The second floor is a mechanical platform.
Refer to Sheet A101 and other sheets in set.
Comment # 3: Accessible showers (relocate controls in accordance to FBC (A) 608.5.1 Response: Comment Noted. Shower controls and nozzle will be installed on the wall opposite the shower seat. Refer to Sheet A602, note 16. The shower controls shall be within 16” between the shower nozzle and the shower curtain.
Comment # 4: Rest rooms door swing FBC (A) 603.2.3 Response: Per the Florida Accessibility Code 603.2.3; exception #2 - the door may swing into the clear floor space of a fixture if there is a clear floor space of 30” x 48” beyond the arc of the door swing.
Comment # 5: Sheet A100 (2” slope) accessible route. Entrances 404(206.4.2 – 206.4.0) slope not to exceed 1:48 FBC (A) 404.2.4.4 Response: Comment Noted. Slope at employee entrance and vestibule entrance shall be modified to 1”. Refer to Sheet A100 and S101.
Comment # 6: Energy Calculations Response: Comment Noted. Please see attached.
Comment # 7: Window Specifications Response: Please see attached Specification Section 08570. CGI Windows with laminated glass is called out as a basis of design. This manufacturer’s factory laminated glass is two lights of 3/16” glass laminated together for a total of 7/16”.
Plan references will be updated to correspond.
Comment # 8: Truss profiles & layout Response: Comment Noted. General Contractor shall submit Truss Shop Drawings of Roof Framing Plan & Truss Profiles by Florida P.E. once bidder has been selected prior to obtaining the building permit.

Comment # 9: 9/16” laminate windows…. Submittal indicates 7/16 laminate Response: Refer to revised sheet A100, A200 and A201 (note #2). Laminated glazing in windows shall not be any less than 7/16” thick.
Comment # 10: Clarify size of roof sheathing 5/8” or 3/4” on A200 / A301.
Response: Roof sheathing shall be 5/8” not 3/4”. Refer to revised sheet A301.
Comment # 11: Check water proofing behind split face block Response: Refer to revised sheets A200, A201 and A400. Split face block shall be primed and painted with water proof paint. Refer to revised Specification Section 09900; Part 2.03 Paint Systems Exterior; E.
Comment # 12: A701 stucco behind plaster details 1 & 2 Response: Comment noted. Refer to revised sheet A701.
Comment # 13: Lights in holding cells - move location?
Response: These fixtures are corner mounted. The placement was chosen so that they are less likely to be damaged or vandalized.
Comment # 14: Recommend bodine lights for emergency Response: : Twin head emergency fixtures with battery back-up are more cost effective than emergency inverter ballast to stay within the designated project budget

ACCESS FLOOR SYSTEM
Comment # 1: Provide manufacturing instructions for spray applied open-cell insulation R-20 Response: General Contractor shall submit cut sheets & manufacturer’s installation instructions once bidder has been selected prior to obtaining the building permit.
Comment # 2: Sheet A401 describe insulation stop Response: Refer to revised sheet A401
Comment # 3: Provide Manufacturing instruction for Amico Secura Lath or approved equal.
Response: General Contractor shall submit once bidder has been selected prior to obtaining the building permit.

Response: Clarification: Note #5 on A601 refers to Holding Area, not restrooms
Comment # 9: Sheet A601 redefine note 6 (plumbing chase) Response: Comments Noted. Note 6 should be note 10.
Comment # 10: Holding cells camera & surface mounted light fixture?
Response: Cameras and fixtures are corner mounted so that they are less likely to be damaged or vandalized. The final placement of cameras will be per Volusia County’s vendor.
Comment # 11: Lobby & corridor live load 100 PSF Response: Refer to revised sheet S001
Comment # 12: Provide design load for mechanical room (floor load) Response: Refer to revised sheet S001
Comment # 13: Sheet S101 slab on grade A – Clarify thickness Response: Final thickness was changed to 4”.
B - Clarify vapor barrier thickness Response: Vapor barrier thickness should be 10 mils. Already changed in drawings.
C – Access floor system Response: No access floor system.
D – Exterior slopes Response: Changed to 1” for staff and cell areas.
E – Clarify typical foundation section Response: Typical foundation section for columns – Refer to S101
F – Clarify location of “S” notes Response: Refer to revised Plan S102
Comment # 14: Clarify discrepancies sheets S101 & S 102
a) Sheet S201 provide location of beam CBI – identify MBI location Response: CB1 is been shown on S201. MB1 was already located on S201.
Refer to S201 for discrepancies clarifications.
b) Sheet S202 provide spacing requirement for flat straps & blocking Response: spacing specified. Refer to S202
c) Sheet S301 ring shank nails for roof sheathing required Response: Ring Shank Nails specified. Refer to Sheet S301
d) M101 locate/label AHU #5 Response: Please see AHU #5 label added in IT room on Sheet M101
e) P001 add water heater and add chair carriers to fixture schedule Response: Please see sheet P001 for added water heater. WC-2 does not require a chair carrier. The unit rests on the floor and bolts to the wall. Please see attached installation instructions sheet.
f) Sheet P002 missing from submittal Response: This sheet has been eliminated from the set
g) Sheet E401 clarify 1 phase or 3 phase – clarify panels RP-1 vs PP-1
Response: Service is 208Y120V-3 phase 4 wire. Panel name shall be RP-1
Comment # 15: Provide:
