The research focuses on developing design principles for next-generation virus-like particles (VLPs) that enhance cell-specific...
- The National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering awarded Trustees of Boston University $641,300 on May 1, 2026, under the Discovery and Applied Research for Technological Innovations to Improve Human Health program (CFDA 93.286, assistance type Project Grant) to develop next-generation chemoproteomic affinity-based peptide probes (CAFBPs) for targeted profiling of oncogenic kinase activity in circulating tumor cells. The project addresses technical barriers in isolating and...
- The National Institute of General Medical Sciences awarded The Broad Institute, Inc. $464,032 on August 1, 2026, under the Biomedical Research and Research Training program (CFDA 93.859) to develop computational methods for mapping intercellular circuits governing complex tissues, specifically mucosal epithelia in the intestine, airway, nose, urogenital tract, and related barrier surfaces. The project addresses two key analytical challenges: uncovering intercellular regulatory signals that...
- The National Institute of General Medical Sciences, part of the Department of Health and Human Services National Institutes of Health, awarded Brigham & Women's Hospital Inc. $230,388 on March 12, 2026, under the Biomedical Research and Research Training program (CFDA 93.859) to develop small molecule inhibitors of the E3 ligase NEDD4. The project consists of two research aims. Aim 1 investigates the structural dynamics of the NEDD4 HECT domain through NMR spectroscopy, using different...
- The National Institute of General Medical Sciences awarded $1.243 million to Trustees of Tufts College on August 1, 2026, under the Biomedical Research and Research Training program (CFDA 93.859) to develop intracellular delivery approaches that overcome the hook effect in proteolysis-targeting chimera (PROTAC) technology and improve protein degradation efficiency. The project addresses a technical limitation in PROTAC-mediated protein degradation where elevated PROTAC concentrations saturate...
- The National Institute of General Medical Sciences awarded Boston College $641,700 on August 1, 2026, under the Biomedical Research and Research Training program (CFDA 93.859) to develop chemical-proteomic tools for investigating cysteine modifications in proteins. Boston College will expand chemoproteomic platforms to investigate protein regulation through metal binding, oxidation, and covalent liganding of cysteines localized in different subcellular compartments. The research encompasses...
- The National Institute of General Medical Sciences awarded the Trustees of Boston University $433,750 on April 1, 2026, under the Biomedical Research and Research Training program (CFDA 93.859) to develop network-based computational models for understanding continuous cell states in human development and disease. Over five years through February 28, 2031, the research group will create methods to integrate multiple modalities of large-scale genomics data, with emphasis on epigenetics and the...
- The National Institute of General Medical Sciences awarded Imagen Bioworks Inc. $349,243 on September 12, 2025, under the Biomedical Research and Research Training program (CFDA 93.859) to develop SPOTLIGHT-OMICS, a scalable spatiotemporal-omics platform for pre-clinical drug discovery. The platform isolates disease-relevant cell subpopulations showing altered spatiotemporal phenotypes after drug exposure and subjects isolated cells to subsequent omics assays, linking cellular spatiotemporal...
The National Institute of General Medical Sciences awarded Boston Interactome, Inc. $349,753 on September 1, 2026, under the Biomedical Research and Research Training program (CFDA 93.859) to develop the Integrated Two-Hybrid (I2H) platform for protein-protein interaction mapping and drug discovery. Boston Interactome will develop I2H as a next-generation PPI detection platform combining multiple protein expression backgrounds and detection modes to achieve 80–90% coverage of protein-protein interactions, compared to the 10–20% detection rate of traditional assays. The recipient will establish the drug-PPI network, a curated reference dataset of 80 clinical and preclinical PPI-drug interactions supported by multiple biophysical evidence. As proof of concept, Boston Interactome will deploy I2H in collaboration with Klyne to conduct an ultra-large-scale virtual screen targeting selective PPI modulators of the SIN3A epigenetic protein complex, specifically the PAH2 domain linked to oncogenic indications. The platform aims to integrate high-coverage PPI mapping with robust drug-PPI reference data to accelerate mechanistic target discovery and advance PPI-targeted therapeutic development. Performance takes place in Boston, Massachusetts. The period of performance runs from September 1, 2026, through August 31, 2027.
