- This Project Grant award from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (CFDA 93.859 - Biomedical Research and Research Training) provides $454,478 to The Johns Hopkins University for a project titled "Perfecting Tools to Define the Glycan-Protein Interactome". The project aims to develop advanced chemical probes and computational techniques to map the interactions between glycans (sugar structures) and proteins, which play critical roles in regulating cell physiology and...
- This Project Grant award from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) under the Biomedical Research and Research Training program (CFDA 93.859) provides $350,000 to Electronic Biosciences, Inc. to develop the first technology capable of high-accuracy sequencing of the RNA modifications pseudouridine (Ps) and N6-methyladenosine (M6A) using nanopore sequencing. The project aims to merge innovative bisulfite adduct methodology with Electronic Biosciences' enzyme-free, multipass...
- This Project Grant award, valued at $417,243 and funded by the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) under the Biomedical Research and Research Training program (CFDA 93.859), supports the synthesis of homogeneous proteoglycan-like glycopeptide and glycoprotein libraries for microarray studies. The goal is to develop innovative chemical, chemoenzymatic, and chemoselective ligation strategies to produce well-defined proteoglycan structures, which will then be incorporated into...
- The National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS), under the Biomedical Research and Research Training program (CFDA 93.859), awarded a $423,330 project grant to the University of Kansas Center for Research Inc. The grant, effective August 1, 2025 through June 30, 2030, focuses on developing innovative technologies to enable new discoveries in biomedical research using mass spectrometry. The key products to be delivered include: A completely noninvasive, non-painful sampling method...
- The National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) awarded a $1,316,016 Project Grant under CFDA Program 93.859 (Biomedical Research and Research Training) to the University of California, Irvine (UCI) to develop a novel biosensing platform for label-free, single-molecule detection at ultra-high speeds using metasurface-enhanced coherent Raman scattering. The 4-year project, running from September 2025 to August 2029, aims to overcome fundamental speed limitations in surface-enhanced...
- This federal Project Grant award, valued at $444,830.00 and made by the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) under the Biomedical Research and Research Training program (CFDA 93.859), supports the development of novel small molecule probes to detect the activity of the enzyme heparanase. Heparanase plays a key role in extracellular matrix remodeling and has been implicated in various pathological conditions such as cancer, angiogenesis, and inflammation. The project aims to...
The National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) awarded a $413,036 Project Grant under the Biomedical Research and Research Training program (CFDA 93.859) to Arizona State University (ASU) to develop a new single-molecule sequencing method for glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) using fluorophore-labeled lysosomal GAG degradation enzymes. GAGs are a family of complex polysaccharides with diverse biological functions, but their analysis has been challenging due to their size, complexity, and heterogeneity. The project aims to leverage the processive degradation of GAGs by lysosomal enzymes to infer the GAG sequence from the order in which the enzymes bind and degrade the polymer. This novel sequencing approach could enable improved structural analysis and understanding of these important biomolecules. The project period runs from September 1, 2025 through August 31, 2027.
