- The National Science Foundation Division of Molecular and Cellular Biosciences awarded a $785,201 Project Grant to The Regents of the University of Colorado to support research titled "Collaborative Research: Understanding Protein Mechanical Stability and Its Impact on Secretion." The two-year grant running from January 15, 2022 to December 31, 2024 will fund research under the Biological Sciences program (CFDA 47.074). The Biological Sciences program aims to promote progress in the...
- The National Science Foundation awarded a $1.3 million Project Grant to the University of Colorado Denver under the Biological Sciences federal grant program (CFDA 47.074) for the period of July 15, 2021 through June 30, 2026. The grant funds research into protein degradation during the maternal-to-zygotic transition, as part of the NSF's mission to promote progress in the biological sciences and strengthen the nation's scientific enterprise through increasing knowledge and understanding of...
- Federal Project Grant Summary The National Science Foundation's Division of Molecular and Cellular Biosciences awarded $478,840 to The Regents of the University of Colorado (University of Colorado-Denver) on June 15, 2026, under the Biological Sciences program (CFDA 47.074) to support collaborative research on long-range signaling and computation in microtubules. The project, which runs through May 31, 2029, will deliver fundamental research integrating computational modeling with...
- Federal Grant Award Summary The National Science Foundation's Division of Molecular and Cellular Biosciences awarded Colorado School of Mines $672,000 under the Biological Sciences program (CFDA 47.074) on June 1, 2026, with a completion date of May 31, 2031. This CAREER award funds development of a data-driven, multiscale computational framework designed to quantify pathway complexity during stochastic, out-of-equilibrium biomolecular assembly. The primary deliverable is an integrated...
- This federal Project Grant award of $436,126 was provided by the National Science Foundation (NSF) under the Biological Sciences (CFDA 47.074) program. The award supports research at Colorado State University-Pueblo, a Hispanic-Serving Institution, to study the structure and function of Cajal bodies, which are biomolecular condensates within plant cell nuclei. The primary research objectives are to investigate how Cajal bodies shape plant cell development and respond to biotic stresses, as...
- The National Science Foundation (NSF) Division of Molecular and Cellular Biosciences awarded a $123,956 Project Grant to New Mexico State University (NMSU) through the Biological Sciences program (CFDA 47.074) to support a 3-year research project. The project will probe the role of the small GTPase Rap1 protein in the mechanisms that drive morphogenesis - the changes in cell and tissue shape and arrangement during development. The goals are for the Principal Investigator to learn and apply...
- Federal Project Grant Award Summary The National Science Foundation (NSF) Division of Molecular and Cellular Biosciences awarded a collaborative research project grant of $171,000 to The Regents of the University of Colorado on June 15, 2026, under the Biological Sciences program (CFDA 47.074). The project, "Collaborative Research: Long-Range Signaling and Computation in Microtubules," will be executed through May 31, 2029. This project grant supports basic research investigating a...
The National Science Foundation Division of Molecular and Cellular Biosciences awarded Colorado State University Sponsored Programs Division a $949,949 Project Grant under the Biological Sciences (CFDA 47.074) federal grant program. The award period is from June 15, 2023 through May 31, 2027. Through this funding, Colorado State University will investigate the cellular machinery that carries out endocytosis, a process by which cells take up nutrients and communicate. Researchers will study endocytosis regulation using yeast and employ techniques including live cell fluorescence microscopy, electron microscopy, biochemistry assays, and protein crystallography. Key questions around actin polymerization initiation and regulation during endocytosis will be explored through three research aims. In addition to advancing basic biological science knowledge, the award supports diversity in science through training of students, including from underrepresented groups. Outreach activities are planned for elementary school students. Discoveries will be published and presented to scientific audiences.
