About this opportunity
The Long Beach Public Utilities Department is requesting quotations for welding supplies, parts, and repair services on an as-needed basis via RFQ UD-26-357, with responses due September 10, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. through the Long Beach Buys portal. A 10% local-vendor preference applies to Long Beach-based businesses holding current business licenses and seller's permits, capped at fifty thousand dollars in evaluation benefit.
The scope covers consumable supplies (welding electrodes, grinding wheels, welding hoses, brazing alloy rods, safety equipment), repair services for specified welding machine and fume extractor brands (Miller, Thermal Arc, and Lincoln Electric models), and emergency services. Contractors must specify capability to service each named equipment brand, submit percentage discounts on catalogue parts, and provide service rates for both on-site and contractor-facility repairs, including emergency work. Deliveries must occur within five business days of purchase order receipt; service completions within five business days from delivery or pickup. Estimated annual quantities are provided for reference only and do not guarantee volume.
LBPUD reserves the right to award a single contract covering all items or separate contracts for individual item groups. The contract term is twelve months with two optional one-year renewal extensions by mutual agreement. Unit prices and percentage discounts must remain firm for the one-year initial term; quoted rates must hold firm for ninety days from bid opening. Sales tax is excluded from pricing. Contractors must carry comprehensive general liability insurance of one million dollars per occurrence and workers' compensation coverage; provide minimum one-year warranties on parts and labor; and obtain a Long Beach business license prior to contract execution. Contractors may be required to complete use tax forms if purchasing over one hundred thousand dollars in equipment from outside California.
