About this file

This document is a vendor recruitment flyer from the City of Long Beach that outlines the procurement process and how businesses can become vendors for the municipality. The City of Long Beach purchases hundreds of millions of dollars annually in goods and services, including vehicle parts, construction contracts, and professional services. For purchases under $40,000, the City solicits quotes directly from businesses and selects the lowest qualified bid. For purchases exceeding $40,000, the City posts solicitations to Long Beach Buys, a centralized online platform where vendors can search for opportunities and submit competitive proposals. Interested vendors must first create a free account on Long Beach Buys at longbeach.gov/purchasing, search the database for relevant invitations to bid (ITBs), requests for proposals (RFPs), and other solicitations, and submit responses for opportunities matching their qualifications and interests.

The City welcomes participation from small, local, and diverse firms and provides a 5-10 percent preference to local businesses in the quote and solicitation processes. The City hosts monthly "Doing Business with the City" webinars every third Thursday of the month at 11 a.m. to educate potential vendors about the procurement process. Vendors can RSVP for the Zoom meeting link at lbcity.info/vendorwebinar. For questions or assistance with account setup, prospective vendors should contact Purchasing Customer Service at LBPurchasing@longbeach.gov or 562.570.6200.
