About this opportunity

Pima County is requesting sealed bids for the Tucson Mountain Park Water Line Replacement, a 2-mile section of 6-inch PVC waterline replacement from the intersection of N. Kinney Road and W. McCain Loop to the Ranger House southeast of the Arizona-Sonoran Desert Museum entrance, with bids due August 25, 2026.

The scope encompasses furnishing all labor, materials, equipment, and supervision for waterline replacement and associated roadway repair. The existing line, buried 3 to 4 feet deep, will be abandoned in place or replaced along the same horizontal alignment. Kinney Road will be fully closed from McCain Loop to the Desert Museum entrance during trenching operations. The contractor must protect existing 1-inch communications conduits and maintain Desert Museum service line availability for no more than 24 hours. The contractor bears full responsibility for traffic control per Section 701 (Maintenance and Protection of Traffic), all permits including dust control and right-of-way permits, construction surveying and layout, quality control testing, and record drawings.

Contract documents incorporate Pima Association of Governments Standard Specifications (2015 Edition), Pima County Standard Details and Supplemental Specifications, Tucson Water Standard Specifications (2017), and applicable federal and state standards. Work must comply with Pima County's Pollution Prevention Plan ("SWPPP Lite"). Soil conditions historically include cobbles, rocky soils, and caliche; all excavation, removal, and disposal costs are considered incidental to base contract pricing.

Substantial completion is required by November 24, 2026. The project is located within Section 6, 7, and 8 Township 14 South, Range 12 East, Gila and Salt River Meridian, Pima County, Arizona.
