Repairing, Rebuilding and Maintaining Various Boilers and Boiler Control Systems

The Chicago Transit Authority is requesting proposals for repairing, rebuilding, and maintaining various boilers and boiler control systems across CTA facilities, with proposals due August 24, 2026.

The contract runs for three years with two optional one-year renewal periods, for a potential five-year total. The scope encompasses preventive maintenance, emergency repairs, and system rebuilding of commercial boiler systems and control mechanisms at CTA facilities. The awardee must maintain skilled technician availability, manage parts inventory, and respond to emergency service calls while complying with CTA safety and operational standards.

Evaluation criteria include contractor capacity for emergency response, technician availability and qualifications, parts inventory management capability, and compliance with CTA operational standards. The CTA will consider both incumbent service providers and new vendors, assessing technical qualifications, pricing competitiveness, and past performance on similar municipal contracts. Contract pricing is structured around labor rates, parts costs, and service call fees, with invoicing and payment terms specified in the RFP. Funding derives from the CTA's operational budget, with specific year-to-year allocations dependent on actual service demands and emergency repair requirements.
