About this opportunity
The School Board of Sarasota County, Florida issued Bid #27-0006 for recycling services with a deadline of June 9, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. EST via VendorLink — however, Addendum #1 posted June 4, 2026 canceled this solicitation and announced re-issuance at a later date.
Prior to cancellation, the scope covered pickup and disposal of recycled cardboard, recycled paper, and other recycled materials at a minimum of three times per week across fifty-two locations throughout the district's Facilities Services Department. Services included placement and maintenance of front-end containers (4, 6, and 8 cubic yard capacities), rolling carts (95–96 gallon), and roll-off dumpsters (10–40 yards) for construction debris, with bidders required to price multiple weekly pickup frequencies and extra-pickup options.
The contract term was one year from award date, with options to renew for two additional one-year periods by mutual agreement. Prices were firm for a minimum of one year; price adjustments after year one required documented increases from the recycling processor submitted at least 45 days in advance. No guaranteed quantities were specified, and the School Board retained termination rights with 30 days written notice (or less for performance deficiency).
Bidders were required to demonstrate verifiable recycling services experience within the preceding 36 months, provide three commercial references of comparable scope from customers other than the School Board, and maintain a minimum of three years in the recycling services industry. Contractors must register with E-Verify and carry Workers' Compensation with $500,000 employer liability coverage, Commercial General Liability at $1,000,000 per occurrence, and Comprehensive Automobile Liability. Bidders were required to complete affidavits certifying no labor coercion and no ownership or control by specified foreign countries of concern. Small/Minority Business Enterprise Certification information was required. A 24-hour emergency contact number was mandatory. Written questions were due May 26, 2026.
