About this opportunity
Louisville Regional Airport Authority is requesting bids for obstruction mitigation services—tree removal, trimming, and landscape restoration—at Bowman Field Airport and Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport, with bids due September 3, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. ET and a virtual pre-bid conference on August 24 at 10:00 a.m. ET.
The scope spans 2026–2029 and covers four runway approaches (Runway 6, 24, 15, and 33). Work includes removal of isolated trees ranging from 12 to 48 inches in diameter, trimming of 18 trees, and procurement and installation of replacement landscape plantings. Replacement plantings must follow a ratio of two replacement trees for every residential tree removed and five replacement trees for every public tree removed. The contractor must adhere to FAA Advisory Circular AC 150/5370-2, manage Foreign Object Debris (FOD), conduct utility locating through Kentucky 811 with 48-hour advance notice, and submit utility potholing for conflicts. Equipment operations are limited to maximum heights of 100 feet for cranes and 60 feet for bucket trucks; equipment exceeding 25 feet requires FAA Form 7460-1 and KAZC TC55-2 submissions 90 days in advance. The contractor must provide 72-hour advance notice for Air Operations Area (AOA) work, submit construction schedules five days prior to the preconstruction meeting, and conduct weekly progress meetings. Restoration of haul routes and staging areas is required upon project completion.
Electronic submission is required. Questions must be directed to John Wilson at john.wilson@flylouisville.com no later than August 17, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. ET. Bidders must register at www.flylouisvillebids.com to access bid documents and receive notifications. The Authority enforces a strict No Contact Policy prohibiting bidders from contacting Authority personnel, Board members, or consultants outside of the permitted bid process.
