About this opportunity

The State of Utah Division of Purchasing, conducting through Wildlife, is soliciting bids on cut and chip work in American Fork Canyon under IFB NC27-4, with bids due August 7, 2026. Participation is strictly limited to prequalified contractors on the current Pre-approved/Pre-qualified Vendor list; contractors not on this list are ineligible to submit.

The scope encompasses fuels management and vegetation thinning across approximately 21 to 24 acres in American Fork Canyon, Utah County, at elevations from 5,400 to 6,800 feet. Work includes shaded fuel break construction, thinning of mixed conifer, Gambel oak, and juniper vegetation, and riparian area protection within a 1,775-acre project area. The contractor must furnish professional-grade equipment including brush chippers capable of processing 12-inch rounds, chainsaws, hand saws, and clinometers, with a minimum crew of two people and an on-site supervisor fluent in English. Work is performed during daylight hours (half hour after sunrise to half hour before sunset), Monday through Friday, excluding national holidays unless mutually agreed, from April 1 through November 30, 2026. Work may conclude early if snow accumulation exceeds 6 inches with no warming trend forecast. A pre-work conference will be held at the project site prior to commencement. Equipment and vehicles must be washed before entering and exiting the site to prevent noxious weed spread.

Bids must be submitted on a per-acre basis with a single lump-sum price including all labor, equipment, mobilization, and operating costs. No fuel surcharges or price adjustments are permitted. The vendor must guarantee pricing through project completion. The state anticipates a single contract award to the lowest cost responsive and responsible bidder. Final payment follows government inspection of completed acres; partial payments require prior written approval. The contractor is responsible for quality control, rework of deficient areas, restoration of any created or damaged access routes, and removal of all refuse and flagging upon completion. No mandatory site visit is required, though inspection is strongly recommended. Site inspection maps are provided as KMZ files.
