About this opportunity
The City of Raleigh is requesting sealed bids for comprehensive restoration and renovation of the Pioneers Building and surrounding sitework at the Method Community Park, with bids due September 2, 2026 at 3:00 p.m., and a mandatory pre-bid meeting on August 12, 2026 at 11:00 a.m.
Bidders must hold licensure under North Carolina General Statute Chapter 87 and provide a contractor's license with appropriate limitation and classification. The scope encompasses exterior building-envelope restoration; a new accessible front entry preserving the historic stoop; updates to electrical, mechanical, IT, audiovisual, fire alarm, security, and plumbing systems; interior renovations with acoustic enhancements to the multi-purpose room; new exhibit content in the history room; and base-bid and alternate designs for the history room and catering kitchen. The multi-purpose space includes an alternate for raised-access flooring to eliminate interior ramping and provide underfloor building-systems distribution. Full ADA compliance is required. Sitework includes a new playground, splash pad, parking-lot rework with lighting, irrigation, stormwater treatment, and service upgrades. The Pioneers Building is located at 514 Method Road, Raleigh, North Carolina 27607.
The City of Raleigh will award the contract to the lowest responsible and responsive bidder, evaluating quality, performance, and time specified for contract performance. Bid security of 5% of the bid amount must accompany each submission. "Or-equal" pre-bid submittals must be submitted within 10 days of the advertisement issuance (by August 13, 2026). Sealed bids will be publicly opened and read aloud at the Pioneers Building Multipurpose Room. The architect is Clark Nexsen – NC (a JMT Company), with primary contact Rod Florence at rod.florence@raleighnc.gov. Bidding documents are available at no cost from Katelyn Ottaway at kottaway@clarknexsen.com and online through ConstructConnect, McGraw Hill Dodge Company, and the NC Institute of Minority Economic Development.
