About this opportunity
Guilford County Schools is requesting competitive bids for installation and commissioning of IP Intercom Systems across nine school facilities, with proposals due September 10, 2026 and a mandatory pre-bid meeting on August 18, 2026 at Western Guilford Middle School.
The scope spans low-voltage integration work at Western Guilford Middle, Alamance Elementary, Greene Education Center, Hunter Elementary, McNair Elementary, Oak View Elementary, Pilot Elementary, Union Hill Elementary, and Washington Elementary. The contractor installs owner-provided Valcom IP Servers, Gateways, Audio Ports, IP Speakers, Analog Speakers, Sign Speakers, Call Buttons, and Power Supplies. The contractor provides Category 6 plenum-rated copper horizontal cabling (CommScope 6P4P24-YL-PCMS TPCE), patch panels (Panduit Mini-Com High Density modular with TX6 PLUS UTP RJ45 modules), 66 punch-down blocks, and surface-mount raceway systems (Panduit, Wiremold, or equivalent) for locations where in-wall cabling is not feasible. All nine sites must be fully commissioned and operational by November 30, 2026. The contractor bears all costs for background investigations (seven-year history required for all employees and subcontractors), equipment rental, tool storage, trash removal, and transportation to sites. Lead technicians must hold current low-voltage cabling certifications.
Pricing is submitted as itemized lump sums per school and unit prices for drop-ceiling, hard-ceiling, external-speaker, and add-alternate installations on the GCS Intercom Project Bid Cost Sheet. Sales tax is computed and added as a separate line item. The successful bidder will incur a 1.75% transaction fee on all purchase orders issued through the Statewide E-Procurement Service.
Guilford County Schools reserves the right to award to multiple vendors based on capacity, total cost, and geographical location. The contract includes a one-year workmanship warranty, performance and public liability insurance (minimum $1,000,000 combined single limit), and workers' compensation insurance as required by North Carolina law. Contractor questions are due August 27, 2026 at 3:00 p.m.; responses will be provided via addendum on August 28. Site visits continue through August 20. Anticipated award is September 14, 2026.
