About this opportunity

The Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) in partnership with Naval Air Station Fallon is awarding a subgrant for FRTC Modernization Range Sustainment Support to advance greater sage-grouse habitat conservation, with proposals due July 27, 2026.

The subgrantee will provide scientific and technical support for vegetation monitoring, inventory, spatial modeling, and natural resource management across approximately 1 million acres at Naval Air Station Fallon's Fallon Range Training Complex. Key deliverables include field sampling and inventory of vegetation and fuels, spatial modeling of invasive plants using field data and satellite imagery, translation of spatial models into vegetation and fuel treatment options, treatment implementation support, treatment outcome evaluation, and updates to the NASF FRTC Wildfire Management Plan. The work emphasizes wildland fire management and invasive grass control on federally managed military lands.

Federal grant funding of $615,000 is available; no non-federal match is required. The subgrantee must furnish all labor, equipment, expertise, data, and supplies. Eligible applicants must demonstrate specific experience with rapid field monitoring of vegetation and fuels, spatial modeling of plant invasion and wildfire risk, program management and crew coordination, and prior project experience on NASF or similar remote Nevada locations. Applicants must obtain or maintain an active Unique Entity Identifier and register in good standing with the System for Award Management (SAM.gov); current Single Audit Reports are required if applicable.

The budget ceiling of $615,000 includes fringe benefits, indirect costs, stipends, travel, and publication charges. Subgrantees must submit interim and final performance reports and interim and final financial reports consistent with Federal Grant requirements. Submissions are directed to Alexa Lyons at alexa.lyons@ndow.org. The subgrant monitors are Delaney Friel (Fiscal Services) and Alexa Lyons (Program Staff) at NDOW offices in Reno, Nevada.
