About this opportunity
The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), Division of Disaster Planning and Readiness, has executed an emergency procurement of pharmaceutical destruction and disposal services from Agiliti Health Inc., with the contract awarded on May 26, 2026, upon the vendor's receipt of work authorization.
This is not an open solicitation. The emergency purchase statement, issued under 30 ILCS 500/20-30, was triggered by immediate operational need to remove expired pharmaceutical inventory from the IDPH Elgin warehouse and restore storage capacity for replacement inventory expected around June 15, 2026. IDPH determined that emergency procurement procedures were necessary because no active state contract existed for the required services and no certified Business Enterprise Program vendor could meet the operational and compliance timeline.
The scope encompasses inventory reconciliation and validation of expired and compromised pharmaceuticals (including Tamiflu, Relenza, TPOXX, Epinephrine Auvi-Q, and associated Strategic National Stockpile items), segregation of excluded materials, chain-of-custody controls, secure staging, transportation coordination, destruction through an authorized disposal vendor, and submission of audit-ready destruction manifests and certificates of destruction.
The total contract expenditure is $24,763.62, representing actual costs charged by the vendor. Funding is provided through state appropriated funds. The contract commenced upon vendor notification to begin work and is now complete or substantially complete given the June 15 inventory-arrival deadline stated in the emergency justification.
Agiliti Health Inc. was selected based on demonstrated experience in healthcare and medical inventory management, immediate service availability, and ability to execute compliant pharmaceutical disposal operations within the compressed timeline.
