About this opportunity
SUNY at Stony Brook is requesting qualifications from environmental graphic design, planning, and wayfinding consulting firms or multidisciplinary teams to perform design and standards development services for campuswide external pedestrian and vehicular wayfinding across the Main Campus and Southampton Campus under RFQ 2526-160MC, with qualifications due July 17, 2026. Minority-owned, women-owned, and small business enterprises are encouraged to apply. Questions are due July 1, 2026 via the Jaggaer sourcing system Q&A board.
The scope includes existing conditions assessment and analysis, wayfinding planning and strategy development, environmental graphic design, signage standards development, technical specifications development, prototype visualization and conceptual design development, preliminary sign location recommendations, implementation planning and budgeting guidance, and procurement support for future implementation phases. The selected consultant will develop a cohesive, scalable, ADA-conscious, and brand-aligned framework addressing navigation difficulties, aging signage infrastructure, limited system consistency, and absence of campuswide design standards.
Submission requirements are Firm Overview, Project Team information with resumes, descriptions of at least three comparable projects completed within the last ten years, a narrative describing Project Approach, Portfolio Materials with relevant work samples, and Fee Structure information. Evaluation criteria include relevant project experience, team qualifications, demonstrated design excellence, understanding of institutional wayfinding systems, quality of previous work, project methodology, ability to support phased implementation, references, and overall responsiveness.
No specific contract value, term, or incumbent information is provided. Fabrication and installation services are excluded and may be procured separately. The University reserves the right to reject any or all submissions, shortlist firms for interviews, and negotiate scope and implementation phasing following selection. All submissions must comply with SUNY procurement requirements and insurance provisions. Interested vendors must register on the Jaggaer platform at https://solutions.sciquest.com/apps/Router/SupplierLoginPublic to access RFQ documents.
