About this opportunity

The Muskegon Area Intermediate School District (MAISD) is procuring construction services for secure entry renovations at the Craig Campus located at 1580 Park Street, Muskegon, Michigan. This project requires a single general contractor responsible for all trades, including general construction, mechanical, electrical, and fire protection work, with coordination of all subcontractors. The scope of work encompasses the design, procurement, and installation of a comprehensive secure entry system with electronic access control components, entry doors, frames, hardware, and integrated security technologies, with primary door configurations specified as 18X48, 18X48, 24X48, 24X48, and 24X36 units. The project must be completed while the facility remains occupied during construction, with substantial completion targeted for summer 2026. Sealed bids must be submitted by 2:00 PM on Thursday, April 9, 2026, to Mr. Jesse Rickard, Associate Superintendent, at MAISD Administrative Offices, 684 Harvey Street, Suite 202, Muskegon, Michigan 49442. A pre-bid walk-through meeting is scheduled for 3:30 PM on March 17, 2026, with flexible scheduling available by contacting Steve Fillmore at (231) 767-3695. Bids will be publicly opened at 2:00 PM on April 9, 2026, with anticipated contract award on April 20, 2026, and construction start on August 7, 2026. Complete bid documents are available from Ajax Imaging at 777 East Sherman Boulevard, Muskegon, Michigan 49444, and drawings may be viewed at Concept Design Studio's office at 800 East Ellis Road, Suite 508, Norton Shores, Michigan 49441.

All bidders must submit bid security equal to five percent of the base bid in the form of a bid bond, certified check, or cashier's check payable to MAISD, with proposals remaining firm for thirty days from the bid opening date. Separate pricing for Performance and Labor and Material Payment Bonds covering 100 percent of the project value must be provided and should not be included in the base bid. All bids must be accompanied by a sworn and notarized familial relationship disclosure statement and an Affidavit of Compliance with the Iran Economic Sanctions Act (Michigan Public Act No. 517 of 2012). The project is funded with local resources and does not require prevailing wages; however, Michigan use and sales tax apply to the project. No specific set-aside designations for disadvantaged enterprises are mentioned in the procurement documents, nor are any incumbent vendors or current contractors identified for this new project. The MAISD reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids and waive all irregularities in proposals, though specific budget ranges or award values are not disclosed in the available documentation.
