About this opportunity
Tarrant County College District (TCCD) is seeking a qualified architectural and engineering design professional for a data center reconfiguration project at the Trinity River Campus in Fort Worth, Texas. The procurement is specifically for full design services to reduce the existing data center footprint from 18,400 square feet to approximately 4,750 square feet, with key objectives including fully enclosing the space and modifying existing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) infrastructure. Required services encompass comprehensive design phases including schematic design, design development, construction documents, bidding/negotiation, and construction administration. The request for qualifications (RFQ 25-039) was posted on October 2, 2025, with proposals due by October 23, 2025. Evaluation will likely focus on technical expertise, prior experience with data center renovations, understanding of project-specific requirements, and demonstrated capability to meet the complex technical specifications outlined in the project study.
The solicitation includes strong requirements for Historically Underutilized Business (HUB) participation, with specific goals of 23.7% for professional services contracts. TCCD will accept certifications from multiple minority and women-owned business enterprise agencies, including the North Central Texas Regional Certification Agency and Women's Business Enterprise-Southwest. The project has an estimated probable construction cost of $1,098,021.36, which will involve significant modifications to existing infrastructure, including installation of new fire-rated demountable partitions, secure vestibule, LED lighting, and updates to mechanical and fire protection systems. Contractors must demonstrate good faith efforts to include minority and women-owned businesses, with potential sanctions for non-compliance. The architect selected will be required to maintain professional liability insurance of $5,000,000 per claim, and the project will be fully performable in Tarrant County, with any legal disputes to be heard in Tarrant County's state district courts.
