About this opportunity

The Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division (NSWCCD) intends to award a firm-fixed price contract for the procurement of services from the University of Colorado Denver Magnetic Materials Laboratory (UCD-MML) to develop advanced empirical models for stress-induced magnetizations of Navy Steels. The objective is to develop mathematical and empirical models for stress-induced magnetization of Navy Steels, particularly HY-100 steel, under large stresses up to 300 MPa and shear stresses up to 200 MPa. The models will be incorporated into the MAGSTROM tool used by NSWCCD. Responses are due by June 12, 2024, and the period of performance is June 19, 2024 to June 18, 2025.

This contract will be awarded on a sole source basis to UCD-MML, as the Magnetic Materials Laboratory at UCD, led by Dr. Stephen Gedney, has unique capabilities and is the sole provider capable of the specialized measurements required to support the development of computational models related to the underwater electromagnetic signatures of naval ships and submarines. The contract is not a small business set-aside, and the anticipated award value is not specified.
