About this opportunity

The Department of Energy is seeking information on a small article monitor to detect low levels of potential radioactive contamination in order to validate that the total Beta/Gamma activity in an item is less than 450 pCi/item. Key requirements include a minimum interior size of 15"x15"x18", a minimum of 2" lead shielding (or equivalent) for natural background reduction, and the ability to count down to an activity that is conservatively under 450 pCi Beta/Gamma with a non-conservative 15% error at the 95% confidence level. The counting time required is 120 seconds for Co-60 and 420 seconds for Cs-137.

This is a pre-solicitation notice with no set-aside designation. The NAICS code is 541715 - Research and Development in the Physical, Engineering, and Life Sciences, and the PSC category is AG12 - Energy R&D Services; Energy Supply; Applied Research. The due date for responses is August 23, 2024, and no information is provided about potential incumbents, award values, or budget ranges.
