About this opportunity
The Supervisor of Shipbuilding, Bath, Maine issued a Special Notice of Intent to Award a Sole Source Contract to ABS Academy - Americas for an on-site classification and statutory requirements training course. The contracting agency is the Department of the Navy Naval Sea Systems Command.
The Special Notice aims to provide personnel with basic knowledge on American Bureau of Shipping rules and standards for Military Sealift Command vessels under construction at NASSCO through a proprietary training program offered exclusively by ABS Academy. Interested parties were invited to submit information in response by January 24th, though no solicitation or quotation was forthcoming as the sole source award to the incumbent ABS Academy was justified based on their exclusive licensing to deliver specialized instruction. Eligible contractors were limited to ABS Academy due to the unique and proprietary nature of the required training regarding plan review and protective coatings as they relate to ABS classification surveys of MSC ships.
