About this opportunity

The Department of the Air Force Air Combat Command is seeking qualified vendors to fabricate mooring augers for aircraft storage, with a focus on meeting stringent military specifications and technical order requirements. The pre-solicitation notice requires interested contractors to submit a capabilities narrative not exceeding three pages, demonstrating technical understanding and manufacturing capabilities. Vendors must provide an original drawing with a specification sheet that shows their ability to produce mooring augers precisely matching the military's detailed technical specifications. The submission deadline is 7:00 AM PST on Wednesday, 19 March 2025, with responses to be sent directly to Contracting Officers Patricia Murray and Zachary Goit. Evaluation will likely center on vendors' technical competence, manufacturing capabilities, and ability to meet the strict military specifications for these specialized augers.

The procurement is not set aside for any specific type of business and is classified under the NAICS category 332312 for Fabricated Structural Metal Manufacturing. The contract is anticipated to be an Indefinite-Delivery Indefinite-Quantity (IDIQ) arrangement with a maximum ordering quantity of 5,000 mooring augers over a five-year period. The first delivery will be required within 90 days of contract award, with augers needing to be fabricated from steel and hot-dip galvanized to meet A-A-55606 specifications. Each auger must conform to precise technical requirements, including specific measurements such as an overall length between 32-35 inches, and include specific components like a collar, auger lip, and triangle ring. While specific budget or award value is not disclosed, the multi-year contract with a high maximum order quantity suggests a potentially significant procurement opportunity for qualified manufacturers.
