About this opportunity

The U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service, Pacific Northwest Region (Region 6) is seeking qualified contractors to remove two hazard trees that fell onto a Forest Service mechanic shop building at the Wenatchee River Ranger District in Leavenworth, Washington, following a severe windstorm on December 10, 2025. The procurement, issued as Solicitation Number 1240BD26Q0005, is a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for commercial items under FAR Part 12 procedures and requires the contractor to safely remove tree sections resting against Forest Service buildings and dispose of all debris outside the Forest Service compound in a lawful manner, while leaving portions of the trees on private property for the homeowner to address. Key contract requirements include compliance with OSHA regulations, use of specialized equipment such as cranes, employment of licensed crane operators, and protection of government personnel and property throughout the removal operation. Evaluation will be based on technical capability, price, and past performance, with technical factors potentially serving as the controlling criterion for award determination. Offers are due by 2:00 PM PST on January 26, 2026, submitted via email to jorge.somoza@usda.gov, with technical questions directed to Zach Fowler at 509-883-8488 or Zacharie.Fowler@usda.gov; bidders are strongly advised to visit the project site prior to submission to assess road systems and site access.

This acquisition is designated as a Total Small Business Set-Aside, with a small business size standard of $11.5 Million under NAICS Code 115310 (Support Activities for Forestry), making it available exclusively to small business concerns. No incumbent contractor information or specific award value has been disclosed in the solicitation materials. The contract is anticipated to be awarded on a firm-fixed-price basis, though no explicit budget range has been provided. The scope involves removal of two hazard trees with an anticipated completion timeline following award, though specific project duration details are contained within the full solicitation document. Performance will take place at the Wenatchee River Ranger District facility in Leavenworth, WA 98826, with site familiarization recommended prior to bid submission.
