Awarded Vendors: Ritter & Paratore Contracting Inc. Contract Award Dollar Amount: $2,347,000.00. Contract Award Date: 2019-08-06.
Update #3 ·
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is issuing a solicitation for an Invitation for Bid (IFB) construction contract for demolition at Hanscom Air Force Base (HAFB), in Lexington, MA in support of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Lincoln Laboratory (MIT LL). The NAICS code for this procurement is 236220. This will be a total small business set-aside. The estimated construction cost is expected to range from $5,000,000.00 to $10,000,000.00.
MIT LL is a Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC) chartered to apply advanced technology to problems of national security. The project scope of work described herein involves the demolition of five buildings to provide a laydown area for the upcoming construction of a new Compound Semiconductor Laboratory and Microsystems Integration Facility (CSL-MIF) on the MIT LL campus, which is located on HAFB in Lexington, Massachusetts.
The proposed location for the CSL-MIF is presently a parking lot on a constrained site. Therefore, a laydown, staging and storage area will be created approximately one-quarter mile south of the CSL-MIF building location by the tear-down and removal (i.e., demolition) of five 1950s era buildings. The building demolition will involve approximately 5,258 square meters (approximately 56,600 square feet) of single and two-story buildings and the complete removal of associated building foundations and branch utilities within five feet of the foundations, and backfilling the foundation areas with suitable fill, grading and seeding. This work will require the abatement and management of hazardous waste in the buildings, including but not limited to, asbestos and lead paint and other materials common to building construction of the 1950s. This project is on a secure DoD facility and involves sensitive information; all members of the contractor's team who work on this project must meet HAFB base access standards and will be subject to a background check.
Please note - As per FAR 4.1102(a), all Offerors MUST be registered and active in SAM.GOV at the time of bid opening. Offerors not registered in SAM at time of the bid opening will be rejected.
The Government has included a definitive responsibility criterion in the solicitation and contract. Please see the solicitation.
The solicitation requirements and contract documents to include instructions for submission and the response date are available. Neither telephonic, mailed nor faxed requests for hard copies of this solicitation will be accepted. The solicitation will only be available online; in order to download the solicitation, offerors must access the Federal Business Opportunities website (www.fbo.gov). All responsible sources may submit a proposal which shall be considered by the New England District. Additional questions may be emailed to the Contract Specialist at Alysha.MacDonald@usace.army.mil
