About this opportunity

The Defense Logistics Agency Aviation is seeking to procure nine (9) AZIMUTH SERVOMECHAN units, which are flight-critical aircraft components identified by NSN 7R-1680-016193388-P8. The procurement requires engineering source approval from the design control activity to maintain part quality, with an emphasis on preserving existing unique design capabilities and manufacturing/repair knowledge. Potential contractors must submit detailed information through the NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support Source Approval Information Brochures, demonstrating their technical expertise and manufacturing capabilities. The government intends to negotiate with a single source under FAR 6.302-1 authority, with proposals being accepted until June 3, 2025. Evaluation will focus on the contractor's ability to meet stringent technical requirements, including providing comprehensive technical data and proving previous production experience or capability.

This pre-solicitation notice indicates no specific set-aside designation, meaning the opportunity is open to all qualified sources. The procurement does not disclose a specific award value, but emphasizes the critical nature of the components for fleet support. Contractors must be prepared to undergo a rigorous source approval process, which may impact the timeline for award and delivery. The quantity of nine units suggests a specific, targeted procurement likely for military aircraft maintenance or replacement. The government retains significant discretion in determining whether to compete the contract, with the final decision based on responses received within 45 days of publication (or 30 days if awarded under an existing Basic Ordering Agreement). Successful contractors must demonstrate exceptional technical capability, data rights, and manufacturing knowledge specific to these specialized aircraft components.
