SUMMARY OF CHANGES
SECTION SF 30 - BLOCK 14 CONTINUATION PAGE
The following have been added by full text:
AMENDMENT 0003
1. Specification section 31 62 16.13 paragraph 2.1.4.2 states to coat pipe piles to 20’ below mud-line. Please advise the total length of pile contractors should assume to be coated so that all contractors are pricing the same material. The mudline elevation is not given within the drawings. CD101 shows depth readings from a depth survey, however the water elevation at the time of survey was not given therefore there is not an accurate way to achieve a mudline elevation. Depending on which sounding number you choose to dictate your mudline elevation on CD101, the mudline could vary by 10’ depending on which number you assume as most of these pile locations are not directly on a sounding number. The new piles are also not shown on CD101, just the pile clusters that are being removed. There is a dimension given from that the new pipe piles are offset from the demolition cluster A,B & C on C-101, but there are no depth sounds on C101. Please advise.
Limit of coal tar epoxy coatings for the new mooring piles shall extend 5’ beyond field splice located between 30 to 35 feet from the bottom of the piles. Should full length piles be delivered to the project site, shop coating shall extend to 30 feet from the bottom of the pile.
2. Please clarify the diameter of the existing timber piles on Dock 1.
The existing timber piles are 12” in diameter.
3. Specification section 01 11 00 – Summary of Work states that the new Dock 1 structure shall include new stairs. Please clarify that no new stairs are included in the new Dock 1 structure, as there aren’t any shown on the drawings.
Specification Section 01 11 00, Paragraph 1.1: Revised the fourth sentence of the fourth paragraph to read “The new Dock 1 structure shall include new concrete support abutment, new dock framing lumber, new fiberglass reinforced grate walking surfaces, new connectors, and other new items as shown on the Contract Drawings and these specifications.”
4. Please clarify the new handrail vertical post spacing on docks #2, #3, & #4. A maximum spacing of 4’ is stated on Dock #1, should contractors use this spacing on the other 3 docks?
The vertical hand/guard rail posts shall be spaced at 4’ maximum for all docks.
5. Please clarify that Dock #4 does not receive a new concrete abutment.
A new concrete abutment not required for Dock #4.
6. Specification Section 01 11 00 states to remove and replace the adjacent concrete sidewalks and ramp for Docks #2, #3 & #4. Please clarify that there are no new ramps being installed, just the removal of 1 ramp at Dock #2 as referenced in note #3 on drawing CD101. Also, Please clarify the extents/dimensions of the stabilization section for dock #2, (detail H11 C-501) which seems to be in the area that the ramp is being removed.
Specification Section 01 11 00, Paragraph 1.1: Revised the fifth paragraph to read “ Work on Dock 2, 3 and
W912WJ24B0002
4, shown on the Contract Drawing, shall include removal and replacement of adjacent concrete sidewalks and ramp for Dock #2, installation of new concrete support abutments (Dock 2 & 3), replacement of the existing stairs (Dock 2 & 3), handrails, electrical power pedestals, and light fixtures.
7. For the new abutments on Docks #2 & #3, Detail A5 on S-502 called out “concrete filled form footing 6’ below grade”. The top of the concrete filled form footing seems to be below grade, making the height of the concrete filled form footing 6’. Please clarify if 6’ is the intended height for these at Docks #2 and #3, as the ones shown for Dock #1 are 2’-6” in height.
The bottom of the concrete filled form footing shall be placed at 6’ below grade over compacted subgrade. The length of the form footing varies to account for the size and shape of the concrete abutment.
8. Specification Section 01 11 00 states to replace the adjacent sidewalk on Dock #4. Please clarify the dimensions of this sidewalk.
Adjacent sidewalk replacement is limited to Dock #2, see response on Question 6.
9. Please clarify the lengths of the sidewalk that is to be installed for Docks #1, #2 & #3. Details on drawing C-501 states to match the width of the 7’-10” concrete abutments, however, no length is provided.
The length of new concrete walkways for Dock #1&2 are as shown on Drawing C-101. Width of new walkways shall match the width of the new concrete abutment at their interface. No new concrete walkway is required for Dock #3.
10. Are there existing concrete abutments to be removed on Docks #2 & #3? If so should contractors assume these abutments are the same dimensions as the existing abutments shown for Dock #1 on reference drawing Cap-59 – Sheet 4.
For bidding purposes, assume similar concrete abutments as existing condition for all Dock #1 through Dock #3.
