B168 Vindicator Upgrade—Questions and Answers
1. The SOW says to upgrade the IDS, ACS, VCC, and SAW to Win7 or 10. VCC and SAW are the workstations and IDS/ACS are V5's. What is the firmware release the V5/1500's are currently using?
a. V5 Firmware 3.2, there are no 1500’s in use
2. Are the VCC and SAW workstations located inside the SCIF or are they in a different location that needs to be upgraded?
a. They are located in a separate office, but the entire facility is considered SCIF space.
3. How many PIR's will be required? If unknown can you post a room diagram or wall lengths?
a. There is a requirement to have a PIR near every entry and exit point for the facility, however we have more than that.
4. Is the room mostly open or are there high cubicles that would block the PIR coverage?
a. This is a two-floor facility and there are PIRs in every room.
5. How many doors are located in the SCIF? Is there an electronic door strike on the door(s) already or would a maglock be sufficient?
a. I’m not comfortable providing this information through these means. It could create a vulnerability for our facility. A site visit or other secure means would need to be coordinated.
6. What type of communication is used for the VLAN, i.e. Fiber (SM or MM & type of connector needed for fiber patch panel, i.e. ST, SC, LC?) or a network switch?
a. Fiber, Multi-mode
7. Will the SCIF require a Vindicator Site Commander (VSC), Vindicator Area Commander (VAC), or would a keypad (Corby or HID pivClass) be sufficient for Secure/Access keypad?
a. The SCIF currently uses a VSC, VSC should remain and be upgraded if applicable.
8. If the VCC will be located in the SCIF what is the reason and can a VSC take its place. It provides same capability at a much lower cost and can double as a keypad for Secure/Access operations.
a. Full Vindicator client with VCC2, and SAW 2 is required. SSO does not wish to have a VSC take its place.
9. Will a Vindicator Badge Manager (VBM) be required for ACS enrollment or is there a VBM already on the same network and security level as the SCIF?
a. VBM already exists but if it is outdated and an upgraded version exists this should be upgraded.
10. Is there a SAW already on the network at the same security level as the SCIF? If so you could reduce your cost by connecting the new ACS V5 to that SAW for reports.
a. Yes, need clarification on connecting a new ACS V5 to it. ACS V5 is already in place.
11. Will power and communication be provided by the government? If not what is the distance to the electrical and communication rooms? Does the facility electrical room have room on the subpanel for a 120v connection and a L5-30R connection for the UPS that would go into an equipment rack to provide backup power for the new SAW and VCC workstations? Does the fiber patch panel or network switch have room for one communication run from the new V5's?
a. Yes, Govt will provide power and comm however power and comm are already pre-existing. Need clarification what upgrades are going on.
