HEKATRON, DIN 57833, PART 1/VDE 0833, PART 1

Fire Alarm Systems (Gefahrenmeldeanlagen/GMA) must be repaired regularly by qualified technicians. When a break-down occurs, GMA will be immediately inspected and repaired by qualified technicians. Inspections will be performed at least four times annually, in about the same time intervals. In order to conform with the regulatory function, the following will be tested:

- at least one alarm per transmission route; however, with additional automatic alarms,

- only those which can be tested without risk of destruction

- the signal transmitter

- the indicator and operating set-up, in or outside of the main control panel

- the switch set-up

- the energy supply

Additionally, the GMA should be tested for interference control, that can not be operationally analyzed.

Inspections should be performed at least once annually for:

- all alarms which are free of risk of destruction

- the transmission systems with side alarms which have no risk of destruction

Repairs should be immediately performed if the inspection of the GMA indicates undue differences in the desired condition.

Maintenance should be performed according to manufacturer's specifications, but at least once annually. If necessary, this includes, for example:

- maintenance of the system parts

- exchange of structural elements with limited durability (i.e. light bulbs)

- adjustment, readjustment and balancing of structural elements and equipment

In addition, GMAs should be tested every five years, to make sure that they fulfill all the requirements of this standard. All operational occurrences, as well as all maintenance performed and alteration measures must be recorded, by the supervisor or appointed representative, in the provided GMA operational log.

Alterations to GMAs may only be performed by qualified technicians. After every alteration, the desired condition of the GMA must be immediately restored and an inspection test must be performed.

Check the container for secure mounting.

Check the filling level of the container.

Check fittings and connections for tightness.

Check the thermal fuse for defects.

Check the functioning and cleanliness of the releasing device.

Check the spray nozzles for correct mounting.

Maintenance shall be performed strictly in accordance with manufacturers instructions and guidelines.
