Statement of Work for Construction Services
Project Name Project No. Date
CRF Awning N/A January 2, 2019
1. Background: The 136th Contingency Response Flight (CRF) requires an awning system to provide covered storage for materials, tools, and equipment.
2. Scope: The contractor shall furnish all labor, parts, equipment, appliances, transportation, and materials necessary to provide and construct a turnkey awning system adjacent to Building 4162 located on Naval Air Station Fort Worth Joint Reserve Base (NASFWJRB). The awning system shall match existing awnings in the 136th Airlift Wing, to include all structural considerations for metal roofing and foundation system per Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) “Structural Considerations for Metal Roofing” (Ref. Para. 11.1).
3. Tasks/Objectives: The contractor shall perform the following:
3.1. Provide and construct an awning system as follows:
3.1.1. Structure shall be “J” shaped with an approximate size of 165 ft. by 100 ft. by 65 ft.
and 24 ft. tall. Contractor shall reference drawings for further information.
3.1.2. Column foundation shall be constructed of concrete. Demo cut existing asphalt and prep for new concrete footings at all column locations.
3.1.3. Column location for front opening will be adjusted to meet spacing for the pallet storage unit to be placed under the awning. Spacing for storage pillars is 12’5” per Ban- Air specifications, or multiples of 12’5”. The area below the span of the canopy requires the absence of columns to maximize space for storage equipment system internal structure.
3.1.4. Roof shall be a sloped (no less than ½” per foot minimum), flat, metal roof system with an overhang for rain/water runoff, as well as gutters and down spouts
3.1.5. Roof system shall have a minimum thickness of 26 gauge or lower.
3.1.6. Steel support columns and roof joists shall be engineered to sufficient size and strength to support the weight of structure.
3.1.7. Three sides of the awning system shall include metal panels for wind and sun protection. Side panels shall run to within 2” of ground and incorporate a small gap at the top of the structure to allow for air flow. Side panels shall be affixed to structure with epoxy anchor bolts.
3.1.8. The north side panel requires a 4’0” ft. by 7’0” ft. opening with a personnel gate aligned in the fence gate. The fence gate is included within the scope of this project.
3.1.9. Roof color shall be Royal Blue in color and the columns and support structure underneath shall be White in color. All color samples will be provided by the contractor for submittal prior to purchase.
3.1.10. Where metal panels are used for exterior wall and roof surfaces, provide a factory applied finish system to resist corrosive climatic effects.
3.2. Verify all measurements prior to performance, as any Government provided drawings are for reference only. It is highly encouraged the contractor conduct a site visit. The government shall point out other existing awnings for the contractor to reference for similarities in design, color, fabrication and installation.
3.3. Contractor shall observe all applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and State safety precautions pertaining to the contract.
3.4. The contractor shall immediately notify the Contracting Officer upon discovery of any unforeseen site conditions or discrepancies between the Government’s project documents and manufacturer’s guidance.
3.5. Clean job site daily during the progress of work, to include sweeping the construction areas to prevent excessive Foreign Object Debris (FOD). The contractor shall be responsible for off-site disposal of all demolition debris and excess material, unless otherwise indicated by the Government. The project site shall be restored to initial condition prior to final acceptance by the Government.
3.6. Coordinate inspections as required by the Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR).
The completion of a Government inspection does not relieve the contractor of its responsibility to comply with required project documents, codes, or the need to provide quality materials and workmanship.
3.7. Request a Pre-Final Inspection from the Contracting Officer to verify that the project is complete and ready for final acceptance. The Government may develop a Pre-Final Inspection Punch List as a result of this inspection. The contractor shall ensure that all items on this list have been corrected before notifying the Contracting Officer to schedule a Final Acceptance Inspection.
3.8. Request a Final Acceptance Inspection from the Contracting Officer to perform final inspection and acceptance of the project. Notify the Contracting Officer at least 14 days prior to the Final Acceptance Inspection and include the contractor's assurance that all specific items previously identified to the contractor as being unacceptable, along with all remaining work performed under the contract, will be complete and acceptable by the date scheduled for the Final Acceptance Inspection.
3.9. Contractor Manpower Reporting (CMR):
