Date of RFI: 28 August 2015
28 August 2015
Ref: Gvt responses to the 27 August 2015 RFI’s submitted
The responses appear to be in conflict with each other regarding the required concrete strength. The 650 Flex design noted in the first response, which is typically used on airfields provides about 4500psi in 7 days and about 6500 in 28 days; not the 5220 in 7 days as mentioned in the latter responses. To go with the latter of 5220 in 7 days etc will be more difficult to work with in the field and will require a substantially more expensive mix design than the Typical 650 Flex Airfield Mix Design.
Please clarify the requirement.
Contractor will use 650 psi at 90 days (Specified Flexural Strength R), with an approximate value of 4500 psi at 7 days and 6500 psi at 28 days. Please disregard the previous reference of 5220 psi at 7 days and 7088 psi at 28 days.
