BUILDING 570 - Replace Boiler

Selfridge Air National Guard Base, Michigan

The following are clarifications to the Statement of Work for Building 570:

1. The contractor will provide a design and all material and labor for installation of the exhaust stack thru the roof. The contractor will modify the existing roof penetration as required to install a new PVC concentric supply air and exhaust for the new boiler per the Mechanical Code and the manufacturers requirements.

2. The arrangement of the boiler installation including NG pipe, HW piping, exhaust, pumps, valves, unions will be included in the shop drawing requirements per the Form AF 66 requirement. This arrangement will be submitted within (6) weeks by the contractor after award for approval by the government.

3. There is no three-way valve design in this package and one will not be installed. See Attached Sketch 01.

4. The contractor will replace the main and standby building pump per the SOW and additionally the boiler primary loop recirculation pump will be replaced. See attached Sketch 01 for the boiler piping diagram and existing boiler recirculation pump that will be replaced.

5. The contractor will use a primary / secondary loop system as shown in Sketch 01. The contractor will install a call controller such as Taco SR 501 for the primary loop.

6. The secondary loop main and standby pumps will be controlled be the same method as the current boiler arrangement. This contractor is responsible for all controls of the new boiler system.

7. The design basis of the new boiler is the Lochinvar Knight Series – 600 MBH.

Capabilities of this specified unit are required.

8. The new boiler will be installed with unions: Dielectric if req’d.

9. All pumps and the boiler will have approved design and type of isolation valves.

10. Install main and standby pumps in parallel off of tees with equal legs.
