About this file
This document contains questions from a potential bidder regarding a solicitation for grounds maintenance services. The solicitation seeks bids for three levels of grass mowing services at minimum frequencies, with Level 1 requiring cutting every two months not to exceed 4 inches, Level 2 every month not to exceed 5 inches, and Level 3 four cuts between March and November not to exceed 8 inches. Optional line items include mowing 691 acres or 20 acres outside the base requirements. The bidder asks for clarification on bidding the minimum frequencies specified or recommended frequencies, and whether to continue replicating pricing for the base year and four option years. The related solicitation is from the Department of the Army Corps of Engineers Engineer Research and Development Center for grounds maintenance at its Vicksburg, Mississippi campus and two additional sites, to be performed within 60 miles of Vicksburg.

1. Should we bid for two(2) mowings per month on Level 1 mowing services or should we bid for how many cuts that we recommend in that time frame? I see it says " a minimum twice per month"..

2. Should we bid for one(1) mowing per month on Level 2 mowing services or should we bid for how many cuts that we recommend in that time frame? I see it says " a minimum once per month"..

3. Should we bid for four(4) mowings between the time frame of March1st-November 1st on Level 3 mowing services or should we bid for how many cuts that we recommend in that time frame? I see it says " a minimum four (4) cuts in that time frame"..
The contractor is quoting the price to meet the specifications in Section 5. Level 3 services, the grass must never exceed 8 inches and must be cut at a minimum in May, July, September, and November.
4. Item No.0009 do you all want a quote to mow 691 acres? I see under FFP. It has 1-3 total acres.
This is an Option and will only be used if these services are needed. The contractor is quoting the price per acre to cut the grass to the height requirements of Levels 1-3. This option may be used to cut the grass outside of the 9 month cutting season or anytime we need grass cut to Levels 1-3.
5. Item No. 0010 do you all want a quote to mow 20 acres. I see under FFP it has 4-5 total acres.
This is an Option and will only be used if these services are needed. The contractor is quoting the price per acre to cut the grass to the height requirements of Levels 4-5. This option may be used to cut the grass anytime we need grass cut to Levels 4-5.
6. Also, It's asking for a price for the same supplies/services several times throughout the packet. Should we just continue to fill it in, even though we've given a price for those areas?
This contract is for a base year and four option years, not to exceed five years. All contractors must submit a completed bid schedule.
