W9127Q18R6010; Working Air Compressor Q & A.

1. Will the contractor be responsible for all electrical and plumbing for the new equipment?

The Contractor will be responsible for the electrical from the “Disconnect” to the Machine.

2. Will the new dryer need to have coalescing and particulate filters with a 3 way bypass.

Yes

3. Does the piping going to the new equipment have to be hard piped and rigid?

No

4. CLIN 0001 - Provide and Install Working Air Compressors and Dryers, 1 Job. No filtration/oil / water separators??

Only changing filtration (if any) that is already existing. Not adding any new.

5. The contractor shall remove existing air compressors and dryers (Bldg. #235 Gardner Denver, Model #EBM99K compressor 2ea. and dryers Gardner Denver, Model #9VXRD200A3, 3ea) & (Bldg. #102 Ingersoll Rand, Model #SSR-EPE50 1ea. and dryer ZEKS, Model #250HSGA400 1ea.)

in accordance with industry standards and any applicable state, federal, or local regulations. Pictures of location of existing equipment rooms to understand scope of installation and removal work.

Pictures not available.

6. Provide and install new air compressors (3ea.) and dryers (4ea.) Why four dryers? Wouldn’t just 1 dryer per compressor be good?

There will be four dryers because one existing Compressor will remain and needs dryer replaced. One compressor in located in Bldg. #102 and will require a dryer. The other two Compressors located in Bldg. #235 will require a dryer for each because most times they will both not be running at same time. In other words it is one dryer for each compressor.

7. What is the compressed air being used for?

Aircraft Maintenance activities: Air operated tools like paint guns, DA Sanders, drill motors, saws, etc. which require a constant 95 PSI (max 120). Vacuum equipment like blast booth and Air Vac equipment for Aircraft Vacuum repairs which require 30 PSI (but require a large volume of air). General Maintenance Activities that use the 95-110 PSI.

8. Industrial Machine rated at cubic feet per minute of 125PSI to 145PSI. How much CFM per minutes at what pressure???

The requirement is for the lines to maintain the 125 PSI to ensure no drop in pressure during critical Aircraft repairs. The minimum PSI the machine requires is 110 and max is 145 the optimum PSI is 125. There is no information on CFMs.

9. Compressor- safety relief valve For a Tank?? I do not see mention of receivers anywhere here. What is size of existing receivers? Are these all to be fixed speed compressors? What time of load profile does this plant have? What time of business? How many shifts?

The compressors are variable speed. I do not have the tank size only approximate three foot by eight foot. We only work one shift. The existing tanks have the safety valve.

10. Compressor installation location size restrictions: Length: 10 Feet. Width: 4 feet 8 inches.

Height: 6 feet. For all compressors and dryers? Or per compressor and dryer? Need more info?

Pictures or drawings. What type and size of piping?

Yes for all compressors. This is the size of the door opening. The existing piping is three inch.

11. Desiccant dryer Heatless? Externally heated or Externally heated with blower purge.

Does not matter any of those will work. Would prefer the NANO in order to stay consistent with other new equipment that has been installed.

12. Rated to operate with minimum of 30HP air compressor so each of the (4) Desiccant dryers is to handle 30HP of compressed air, correct??

YES

13. Clean up and properly dispose of, off-site, all debris, old hardware, packaging, or other trash created during the removal/installation process. More info needed pictures and / or drawings of what is to be removed.

Drawings not available.

14. “Industrial Machine rated at Cubic feet per minute of 125psi to 145 psi” , “ACFM(actual cubic feet per minute) must meet or exceed 130 @ 125 psi.” “Max PSIG (pounds per square inch gauge): 150.” What pressure do you request 125psig or 150psig?

125PSI is required for optimum use.

15. “Industrial Machine rated at Cubic feet per minute of 125psi to 145 psi” , “ACFM(actual cubic feet per minute) must meet or exceed 130 @ 125 psi.” “Max PSIG (pounds per square inch gauge): 150.” Is the machine a fixed speed or variable speed drive?

Variable

16. “30 horse power, gear driven” Is belt drive acceptable?

NO

17. “ACFM(actual cubic feet per minute) must meet or exceed 130 @ 125 psi” Will you accept less cfm?

NO

18. What dew point do you require for desiccant dryer at acfm and psi?

Unknown

19. What type of piping will be acceptable in Building 102?

Steel or Steel flex

20. What type of piping will be acceptable in Building 235?

Steel or Steel flex

21. Will any air outages be allowed in Building 102?

Yes

22. Will any air outages be allowed in Building 235?

NO, some of the safety alarms for the building work off of Air.

23. Will condensate from compressor, dryer, and filters be piped to drain in compressor rooms?

YES

24. Is the desiccant dryer heatless or heated?

Either will work

25. Is an oil water separator required?

No
