Additional Instructions
Platoon Offensive Operations involve 25 -40 Soldiers and are characterized by movement over all types of terrain both mounted and dismounted. During platoon offensive operations the platoon closes with the enemy by means of fire and maneuver to destroy or capture him or to repel his assault by fire, close combat, and counterattack. Typical tactical mission tasks include breach defensive positions, destroy enemy formations, seize terrain and suppress enemy formations. Historically these operations have been supported with 3-4 role players and have a duration of 8-10 hours.
Role players will interact and engage with US Soldiers to include, but not limited to, playing critical roles within training events such as governors, mayors, police chiefs, religious leaders, and key community persons.
Language: NA
Garments/Uniforms: Foreign attire as applicable
Non-FLS Scenario 2: Platoon Defensive Operations

Company Offensive Operations involve 100-150 Soldiers and are characterized by Movement and Maneuver over all types of terrain both mounted and dismounted as well as synchronization and coordination of Fire Support, Protection and Sustainment. Movement to Contact and Attack are the two types of company offensive operations. In both the company commander employs platoons to close with the enemy by means of fire and maneuver to destroy or capture him or to repel his assault by fire, close combat, and counterattack. Movement to contact includes conducting Search and Attack and Approach March. Attacks may be Hasty, Deliberate, or Special Purpose such as Ambush, Raid, Spoiling attack, Counterattack, Feint, or Demonstration. Historically these operations have been supported with 7-8 role players and have duration of 8-10 hours.
Role players will interact and engage with US Soldiers to include, but not limited to, playing critical roles within training events such as governors, mayors, police chiefs, religious leaders, and key community persons.

Training Event For: Opposing Forces, Command and Control (OPFOR C2) (CLIN x016-x021)
OPFOR must be trained, led and controlled in order to be an effective tool to achieve the commander’s training objectives. OPFOR C2 provides the command and control for the OPFOR and shall be capable of organizing, training, leading, and controlling the OPFOR in the appropriate tactical scenario as well as capable of operating and training military personnel to operate current U.S. and OPFOR small arms. OPFOR C2 together with Government furnished military personnel, weapons and equipment shall be able to achieve the standard for OPFOR described above.
OPFOR C2 act as the commander’s principle OPFOR trainers, provide tactical realism, and supplement the unit’s safety program. OPFOR C2 must be capable of:
1. Teaching and Training. Know the unit, enemy doctrine, and understand the major points of emphasis the commander is teaching and the results the commander expects. Teach the OPFOR and then train them well enough to achieve the commanders objectives for the training event.
1. Controlling the OPFOR. Ensuring that the OPFOR understands the tactical scenario and executes its missions within doctrinally correct parameters. Assessing casualties and reporting unit activities are other important aspects of control.
1. Providing Feedback and Assisting with AARs. A major responsibility of an OPFOR C2 is to provide feedback to the unit(s) during the AAR so observations shall be recorded. Although soldiers and leaders provide valuable feedback, input from an outside observer is important to a quality AAR.
1. Reporting. OPFOR C2 shall report OPFOR activities to ensure higher headquarters is kept informed and current on the ground situation. In general, a report shall be made whenever the situation changes. The unit commander or his representative will provide reporting formats.
The Government will provide OPFOR C2 any required uniforms and equipment as well as transportation in and around the training area.

Observer Coach/Trainer (OC/Ts) (CLIN x025-x030)
Provide OC/Ts to coach unit leaders and conduct an analysis of a unit and leader’s performance while facilitating a meaningful After Action Review (AAR). The AARs reinforce Army doctrinal standards and emerging lessons learned from ongoing operations and leverage the learning opportunities presented by underscoring strengths and weaknesses demonstrated during the exercise. Conduct frequent in-stride AARs, targeted at small audiences to provide initial observations to leaders, which do not disrupt the mission rhythm of the training event, will be normal. This does not preclude the conduct of formal AARs, when, in the judgment of the unit commander, are deemed appropriate.
OC/Ts act as the commander’s principle trainers, provide tactical realism, and supplement the unit’s safety program. OC/Ts must be capable of:
1. Observing and Controlling Training. Ensure military unit to be trained understands the tactical scenario and executes its missions within doctrinally correct parameters. Assessing casualties and reporting unit activities are other important aspects of control.
1. Teaching and Coaching. Ensure military units to be trained understands enemy doctrine, tactical scenarios, the major points of emphasis the commander is teaching, and the results the commander expects without instructing or leading counterparts into a certain course of action. Asking leading questions to ensure counterparts understand the operational plan and achieve results through the proper implementation of doctrine is acceptable
1. Providing Feedback and Assisting with AARs. A major responsibility of an OC/T is enunciated in the duty description, OBSERVE. The observations of the OC/T provide feedback to the unit(s) during the AAR so observations shall be recorded. Although soldiers and leaders provide valuable feedback, input from an outside observer is important to a quality AAR.
1. Assessing Casualties. Assessing casualties is critical for replicating battlefield conditions. Unit commanders will provide specific tables for kill ratios according to the varying combat multipliers available and used by friendly forces or OPFOR.
1. Reporting. OC/Ts shall report unit activities to ensure higher headquarters is kept informed and current on the ground situation. In general, a report shall be made whenever the situation changes. The unit commander or designated representative will provide reporting formats.
