SECTION SF 30 BLOCK 14 CONTINUATION PAGE
SUMMARY OF CHANGES
SECTION 00100 - BIDDING SCHEDULE/INSTRUCTIONS TO BIDDERS
The following have been modified:
CONTRACTOR Q&A
Q1. What are the heights of the existing girt framing (and number of girts) where the walls are infilled with 8” metal stud framing?
A1. Assumed: 4’ 8’… depends upon what area you are looking at.
Q2. At Electrical W110 the east wall has a detail cut through it. The detail is 7/A6.1 and shows a rated slip track detail (type 2 wall). Is this wall above an existing wall, or is the entire wall new, or is it an existing wall? A similar condition exists in Comm. W111, except the detail is 6/A6.1. Mechanical room E131 has the same situation occurring, again the detail cuts are shown at what appears to be existing walls (details 6 & 7/A6.1 are shown). If this is a wall on top of an existing wall, how high are the existing walls?
A2. Existing wall heights are assumed to be 10’-0”
Q3. On sheet A0.2 the training room W120 note New 1-HR Fire rated partition in some cases is pointing to existing walls. Are some of the exiting walls really new partitions?
A3. See sheets A1.0 & A1.1 for demo and sheets A1.2 & A1.3 for new framing.
Q4. 1/A5.0 the detail shows 8” metal stud framing, does the framing go from elevation 104’ – 8” to 108’ – 8” only?
A4. At that detail the 8” studs go to 108’-8” at other areas where there is brick there is also steel studs. Check the elevation sheets.
Q5. Interior and exterior perimeter framing is specified in section 05400. Section 05400 indicates engineering of cold formed metal stud framing. I am assuming the engineering is for the exterior/perimeter metal framing only and not the interior metal stud framing. Is that correct?
A5. Yes that is correct.
Q6. Is the firetrak by Kimble noted in the specification 05400 for the fire rated assemblies only? Can we use deflection track from other suppliers such as the stud manufacturer (Clark/Dietrich) for non-rated walls?
A6. The design is based on Fire Trak, other manufacturers are subject to compliance with specified requirements. As per Specification Section 05400 COLD-FORMED METAL FRAMING paragraph 2.01 B2.
Q7. Is the interior framing to be 20 gauge interior studs (30 mil non-structural stud interior framing pro 30)? Is 20 gauge equivalent faming acceptable (Clark/Dietrich 20 gauge equivalent interior metal stud framing)? Please see attached product information on both studs.
A7. The design is based on Dietrich Industries, other manufacturers are subject to compliance with specified requirements. As per Specification Section 05400 COLD-FORMED METAL FRAMING paragraph 2.01 A.
Q8. Detail 3/A6.1 indicates 12” insulation over the top of the partition. How far does the insulation extend over the ACT ceiling on each side of the partition?
A8. Insulation to extend 12” beyond top of partition.
Q9. Plan page E5.0 call out to provide and size a Liebert GXT2 series UPS. I can’t find where it goes on the plans or a spec on it. Is it really needed?
A9. Disregard Keyed note #1.
Q10. Is there asbestos/lead located in the building? Is there a facility/base environmental report available that lists that it is known if building 2880 has asbestos? Hazardous abatement testing is typically done prior to bids and a schedule/report is included to have a quantifiable outcome or to set a basis for all to equally bid. Please provide clear quantifiable direction so accurate bid scheduling and costing can occur. Are there asbestos containing materials in the products found on 01031 page 2, Part 1, 1.03, B? If so, please provide a quantity schedule for us to bid.
A10. For bidding purposes, it is assumed that there is no asbestos, pcbs, or lead in the facility. Each fluorescent bulb may contain mercury.
Q11. Sheet E0.0 The first attached image shows a detail for “Data, Comm Rough in Only.” That is the symbol that is on all of the telecommunications locations except for one. That detail would only require a junction box and a conduit stub without any cabling or jacks. The second attached image is what would be required in one location. I counted 58 locations that wouldn’t have any telecom cables or jacks and 1 that would. We believe this is an error and it would be very costly. Please advise.
A11. The attached images referenced in the question were omitted from the question/answer as they were the original drawings from the solicitation. The wired communication outlets are not rough-in only. The Data/Comm symbol from rough-in only has been changed to the standard symbol to install jacks and cabling. See revised drawings (Attachment 3 Drawings Revised 8-27-19).
Q12. What brand of electrical panel are we trying to match for the new breakers?
A12. As per specification section 16160 Panelboards paragraph 2.01:
A. Square D: www.squared.com.
B. General Electric: www.geindustrial.com.
C. Cutler Hammer: www.cutlerhammer.com.
Or equal
