| Questions & Answers #2 |
| QUESTION: | ANSWER: | PWS Update (PWS Dated 7/12/16) |
| Do you require AUTOMATIC defect recognition? If so, please define automatic. | NO | Removed the word "automatically" from the scope paragrpah 1. |
| What materials can come into contact with the round? | Nonsparking/conductive materials. Prefer conductive plastic (i.e. CONDUCTIVE UHMW to be in direct contact with the round) | Added: "Conveyor and x-ray must be capable of being electrically grounded. All materials coming into direct contact with the loaded projectile must be non-sparking and conductive. Conductive UHMW is the preferred material to be in direct contact with the loaded projectile." to para 3.4 of PWS. |
| What materials cannot come into contact with the round? | sparking/non-conductive materials. | Added: "Conveyor and x-ray must be capable of being electrically grounded. All materials coming into direct contact with the loaded projectile must be non-sparking and conductive. Conductive UHMW is the preferred material to be in direct contact with the loaded projectile." to para 3.4 of PWS. |
| Can you clarify memory 128 32GB? | The PWS has been revised. See next column. | Removed original memory callout and added in para 3.3 of PWS: Hard drive Disk Space: 1000 GB (1TB) minimum. The contractor shall provide enough hard drive disk space to run operating software and x-ray software seamlessly. Memory (RAM): 12 GB minimum. The contractor shall provide enough RAM to run operating software and x-ray software seamlessly. |
| Can Crane provide a list of local subcontractors who have performed construction/electrical work on the base? | Contractor is not responsible to add electrical utilities to building or to construct anything attached to the building. Proposal should indicate what is needed and CAAA will have it completed prior to install. | no change to PWS required |
| Can we get a factory layout drawing with dimensions showing desired location of x-ray system and control room? | SEE FLOOR PLAN WITH THIS UPDATE | Added language "See attached floor plan for xray B27728" in paragraph 3.4 of PWS. |
| How many shots per projectile? | One, unless there is a defect, then we rotate 90 degrees and shoot again. | Added: "One shot per projectile (0 degrees) is all that is required, unless there is a defect, then the round must be rotated 90 degrees and reshot. (the production rate is based on no rejects)." to PWS para 3.4 (last paragraph). |
| Does the part need rotated? | Our procedures normally call out only a 0 degree shot and rotate 90 degrees if we find a defect. We can manually rotate, but the system would need to be designed to allow for that. | Added: "One shot per projectile (0 degrees) is all that is required, unless there is a defect, then the round must be rotated 90 degrees and reshot. (the production rate is based on no rejects)." to PWS para 3.4 (last paragraph). |
| What is the current floor rated for? | 250 pounds per square foot. | Added to PWS para 4: "The current concrete floor is rated for 250 pounds per square foot." |
| What is available voltage? | 480/277/3-phase | Added to PWS para 3.1, "Voltage: 480/277/3-phase." |
| How does rotating parts effect the process time for each projectile. | If there is a reject/defect, it would basically double the process time. | Added: "One shot per projectile (0 degrees) is all that is required, unless there is a defect, then the round must be rotated 90 degrees and reshot. (the production rate is based on no rejects)." to PWS para 3.4 (last paragraph). |
| How many image view stations are required? | two, viewing and reviewing. | Added to PWS para 3.3: "Each viewing (1) & reviewing station (1)" to clarify that there should be two viewing stations. |
| Are there barcodes? How are part images traced back to the parts? | Currently, we do not barcode the projectiles, but would like to be able to use barcodes in the future. Currently, we place lead numbers on the projectiles to trace back to the image. | No change to PWS required. |
| How are bad rounds segregated and handled (different from good rounds)? | Because the projectiles are numbered with lead numbers, we track the projectile that way. The image viewer tells the person unloading the projectile from the x-ray to reject and impound that projectile number. | No change to PWS. |
| Where is the center of gravity of the round? | See drawing 13022733, note 5, which specifies 13.4 to 13.6 inches when measured from the base. | No change to PWS. |
| How big are doorways from backside of building? | SEE FLOOR PLAN FOR XRAY B27728 | PWS para 1 changed to: "The system shall be manufactured and tested at the Contractors facility; however, the system must be designed so that it can be disassembled in order to fit through a 10 x 10 foot (W x H) facility access door." |
| Drawing dimensions, vertical clearance on tunnels. | Tunnel openings are 30 inches wide by 72 inches tall. SEE FLOOR PLAN FOR XRAY B27728 | No change to PWS. |
| What is the required spacing between the projectiles? | no min or max separation distance required between projectiles. Design to get best throughput. | Added to PWS in para 3.4 "The contractor shall propose in their technical approach the configuration of the projectiles for x-raying and acquiring images that meet the 2-2T image quality." |
| Is there a preferred volt/phase for electrical? | 480/277/3-phase | Added to PWS para 3.1, "Voltage: 480/277/3-phase." |
| Is there a requirement for an acquire AND review station (i.e. one person acquire shots while another reviews)? | yes, one view station and one review station. | Added to PWS para 3.3: "Each viewing (1) & reviewing station (1)" to clarify that there should be two viewing stations. |
| Is a 14-bit system technically acceptable? (i.e. bit depth, gray scales) | no, need a 16-bit system. | No change to PWS. |
| Do we need to rotate the part to be inspected? | yes, need to be able to either manually rotate or automatically rotate the part 90 degrees if there is a defect detected in the first 0 degree shot. | Added: "One shot per projectile (0 degrees) is all that is required, unless there is a defect, then the round must be rotated 90 degrees and reshot. (the production rate is based on no rejects)." to PWS para 3.4 (last paragraph). |
| Does a 450kV meet imaging requirements? | yes, we have x-rayed M1122 explosive loaded noses with a 450 kV system. | No change to PWS. |
| What are the floor loading weight specs? | 250 pounds per square foot. | Added to PWS para 4: "The current concrete floor is rated for 250 pounds per square foot." |
| Are there any fire suppression requirements for the cabinet? | NO | No change to PWS. |
| Can we propose a smaller conveyor and not reuse current tunnel openings? | yes, as long as no walls have to come down and no construction must take place and all other requirements are met. | No change to PWS. |
| Can we have dimensions of "new" system loading doors? (back door) | 10x10 loading dock doorways, SEE FLOOR PLAN FOR XRAY B27728 | PWS para 1 changed to: "The system shall be manufactured and tested at the Contractors facility; however, the system must be designed so that it can be disassembled in order to fit through a 10 x 10 foot (W x H) facility access door." |
| UL listed requirements? | All labeling requirements for x-ray systems are in 21 CFR. All electrical COTS items will have their own UL marking label. | No change to PWS. Already states must meet all requirements for x-ray cabinet systems in 21 CFR 1020.40 which includes labeling. |
| Control room location? | Contractor shall propose control room | Added to PWS para 4: Contractor shall propose in their technical approach, the best location for the control console, based on the floor plan and available space (must be on the side of the wall with the x-ray cabinet). |
| Pictures? | Pictures have been uploaded to the Solicitation | No change to PWS. |
| Added to para 4 about the technical approach and what it should encompass. | ||
| Under 3.3 added CD/DVD burner capability (since this is not a networked system). |
