Scaffolding (Sea Sparrow) CVN-68 / LHD-8
(RFQ Queson and Answers)
Q: Is it possible for a site visit to perform scaffolding services in San Diego? How should one go about requesng one?
A: CVN-68 is in Bremerton WA not San Diego, Ca.
We do not have personnel staoned at that naval base in San Diego. The contractor would have to coordinate with the port engineer responsible for that ship as well as have the proper security clearance to gain entry for an unsupervised visit.
The PWS under Clinn 0001 page 2 of 6 (i) states “ Heat ventilated into the enclosures is required to maintain a 60-degree temperature. Heater source needs to be positioned a minimum of 20ft from the enclosure.”
Q: (a) Is the scaffold KTR expected to provide these heater/s? (currently the “objecve” appears to be strictly pertaining to access scaffold and containment) (b) If the answer is “yes” for queson (a) will the government be providing the electrical power at/near the locaon to support the equipment?
A: The government can provide power as long as the contractors provides heater power requirements to the government so the ship can coordinate.
Q: Will the government be providing the crane and rig services needed to load the equipment on/off the ship (the PWS is absent of language to this extent)
A: Port crane and liing services will be at the port but the contractor will need to coordinate with the onsite crane and liing services.
