About this file
These technical specifications are for the University of Colorado Boulder (UCB) and the City and County of Boulder, Colorado, detailing a potable waterline replacement project designated as UCB000817. The project involves removing existing paved surfaces on 18th Street between Euclid Avenue and Broadway Street, replacing full-depth surfaces with new paving and aggregate layers, relocating a portion of the water main, and abandoning existing water main and services. The total project scope includes approximately 450 linear feet of 8-inch diameter waterline replacement, with a critical connection to the City of Boulder's main waterline on Broadway Avenue. The project requires careful coordination with campus events, including restrictions around student move-in periods, finals, home football games, and the Bolder Boulder race, with contractors required to work within specific time constraints and obtain project manager approvals for various activities.
The contract specifications outline detailed requirements for contractor access, coordination, payments, and quality control. For contractor agreements exceeding $150,000, a 5% retainage will be withheld, and contractors must submit specific documentation including state form SBP-7.2, proof of insurance, and construction schedules. Contractors must obtain all necessary City of Boulder permits at no cost to the University, complete background checks for workers, and adhere to strict campus access and safety protocols. The project emphasizes thorough utility locates, erosion control, and specific technical requirements for asphalt paving, trenching, and tracer wire installation, with comprehensive inspection and testing protocols to ensure quality and compliance with University and municipal standards.
