About this file

This Addendum No. 1, issued August 12, 2026, provides clarifications and responses to prospective proposers for the Town of North Hempstead's TNH115-2026-Auction Services contract. The Town will not deviate from its established auction process and reserves the right to make single or multi-award decisions based on what best serves the Town's interests. All items remain stored on Town property, with buyers responsible for pickup within one week of paid invoice. The Town anticipates auctioning a varying quantity of items including vehicles, equipment, furniture, and electronic devices requiring data erasure. Item withdrawal from auction is rare. All proposers must acknowledge receipt of this addendum by signing and submitting the required receipt acknowledgement form with their proposals, which is due August 14, 2026 at 11:00 a.m.

The addendum addresses operational details regarding vehicle titles and sales documents, clarifying that Town vehicles and equipment have clean titles, while impound vehicles are sold as-is with bill of sale only and no titles. Proposers seeking historical auction sales data and information about the current incumbent (identified as Absolute Auctions) may submit Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) requests through the Town Attorney's office at 516-869-7601. The contract award is determined by lowest overall commission percentages charged to both the Town and buyers, plus any credit card processing fees, with no additional charges permitted for travel, shipping, delivery, or labor. The contract term is two years from award with options for two additional one-year renewals at the Town's discretion, extendable by up to ninety days.
