4.0 PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS

4.1 Requirements

4.1.1 DC Power Consumption

The Synthesizer CCA single channel current consumption requirements are as follows:

Voltage Receive Current @ 87.975 MHz min max +13V 0.0mA 5.0mA +10V 0.0mA 10.0mA +6.75V 0.0mA 30.0mA +3.5V 0.0mA 300.0mA

-10V 0.0mA 5.0mA -70V 0.0mA 3.0mA

4.1.2 Signal Strength Indicator

The RFSSI output from the Synthesizer CCA shall meet the following requirements in transmit and receive modes of operation:

MODE DETECTED RF LEVEL REC_RSSI RFSSI OUTPUT

Transmit 1.0 Volt n/a 1.0 Volt Receive n/a 1.0 Volt 1.0 Volt

4.1.3 Modulation

The Synthesizer CCA shall provide FM modulation capability in voice or data modes.

The FM deviation output from the Synthesizer CCA is a function of the 16bit RFTXMOD word. The following formula defines the frequency deviation for a given 16 bit word:

Frequency Deviation = -((2**15) - n)*(12500/(2**15)) Hz where n varies from 0 to (2**16) - 1

SCALE: NONE LTR SHEET 5

4.1.4 Transmitter Distortion

The transmitter distortion of the Synthesizer CCA shall be less than or equal to 4% at room temperature and less than or equal to 6% at extreme temperature for RFTXMOD words that represent audio input frequencies between 300Hz and 3kHz at nominal audio levels.

4.1.5 Transmitter Deviation

The transmitter deviation of the Synthesizer CCA shall be 15 to 22 kHz P-P deviation for RFTXMOD words that represent audio input frequencies between 300Hz and 3 kHz at nominal audio levels. The transmitter deviation of the Synthesizer CCA shall be 5 to

7.5 kHz P-P deviation for RFTXMOD words that represent audio input frequencies between 300Hz and 3kHz at nominal audio levels. The frequency deviation from a bessel filter shaped 16kbps signal operating from data word 52F6 to AD09 applied to the RFTXMOD input shall be 9.5 to 12.4kHz P-P when the Synthesizer CCA is in single channel mode. The frequency deviation from a bessel filter shaped 20kbps signal operating from data word 4BB9 to B446 applied to the RFTXMOD input shall be

12.4 to 16 kHz P-P when the Synthesizer CCA is in frequency hop mode.

4.1.6 Transmitter Spurious

The transmitter spectral emissions of the Synthesizer CCA shall be as follows in single channel and frequency hop mode with 16kbps data applied to the RFTXMOD input:

Offset from fo Max Emission (FH) Max Emission (SC) 25 to 50 kHz 23dBc 45dBc 51 to 100 kHz 40dBc 55dBc 101 to 200 kHz 60dBc 70dBc 201 to 350 kHz 75dBc 80dBc 351 to 500 kHz 75dBc 90dBc

4.1.7 Power Amplifier Output

The Synthesizer CCA in receive mode shall provide an output power of 13 to 19dBm into a mixer load. The Synthesizer CCA in transmit mode shall provide the minimum RF output power into a 50 ohm resistive load listed below when the primary input power is 11.5 to 15Vdc. When primary input power is reduced to 10.5Vdc, the Synthesizer CCA shall output a minimum transmit power of 30dBm in the High power setting.

Mode Minimum Output Power

High 38 dBm Medium 26 dBm

4.1.8 Receive/Transmit Frequency Acquisition Times

The Synthesizer CCA shall tune to within 1 kHz of a new frequency in less than 700usec

SCALE: NONE LTR SHEET 6

from the time the RFTUNEGATE-N signal transitions from low to high in FH modes of operation and 15msec in SC mode. The RF module shall retune to within 1 kHz of the desired frequency in less than 350 usec after XMT-ENABLE transitions from a low to high.

4.1.9 Transmit Risetime, Falltime, and Delay

The risetime (10-90%) of the Synthesizer CCA shall be 50-150usec. The falltime (XMT-ENABLE-N Low to 10% RF Power) shall be 80-130usec. The RF Turn-on Delay (XMT-ENABLE-N High to 10% RF Power) shall be 30-100usec.

4.1.10 TCXO Output

The TCXO clock frequency shall meet the accuracy specification of +/-5PPM with an output level of .9 to 3 V p-p. When in standby mode the SWHUBV will provide power to the TCXO with the same accuracy and level requirements.

4.2 Input/Output characteristics

Tuning information is provided at all times during both transmit and receive. 29.990 MHz is the lowest programmed frequency and 87.985 MHz is the highest. The RF output frequency is offset from the programmed frequency by 12.5 MHz in receive mode. The tuning information transfer is accomplished with the following three signals:

RFTUNECLK

RFTUNEDATATA

RFTUNEGATE-N

150uS

XX XX

Modulation information is provided through a 16-bit serial to parallel data transfer. The following three signals determine the modulation level:
