Q&A
1. Confirm that the output receptacle is to be US-style suitable for 120V. If so, is it to be 2-prong polarized, 2-prong non-polarized, or 3-prong?
Answer: 3-prong polarized.
2. Confirm that the concerns about polarity refer to the possibility of the end user inserting the Schuko input plug into the wall outlet backwards, which would then also reverse the polarity of the US-style output (resulting in high voltage on the low line, and low voltage on the high line).
Answer: Our research has shown that the polarized 120 receptacles are wired reversed and yes some of the XFMR’s will be reversed if the Schuko input plug is reversed in the receptacle.
3. Please confirm the entire unit is to be enclosed. If so:
a. Is there a preference for plastic or metal?
Answer: Metal is preferred. Hopefully it will contain any arcing or flame internally.
b. Is there a requirement for the enclosure to be water-proof, water-resistance, drip-proof, or similar?
Answer: The units are to be for indoor use only.
c. Will the environment to humid, dusty, or dirty, or in other way make it unwise to include cooling slots in the enclosure?
Answer: Yes to all.
4. Is there a preference as to whether the thermal protector is auto-resetting, manual-resetting, or one-shot replaceable?
Answer: The preference is Manual resetting only.
5. Are there physical size and/or weight limitations?
Answer: Needs to be portable with handle.
6. Belgium is 50Hz and American devices are typically designed to operate at 60Hz. Will the devices that the transformer powers be rated at 50/60Hz? If you need 60Hz for the end product(s), an oscillating circuit may be required inside the enclosure. Please clarify.
Answer: Most user devices are expected to be 50/60 Hz rated but any user must expect and tolerate potential performance problems when for powering any device requiring 60
Hz to operate properly. We do not require any frequency conversion by this unit.
7. Indoor/Outdoor, or Indoor only?
