About this file

This is a Bid Bond Form for Napa County, California, establishing the bonding requirements for contractors submitting bids on public works projects. The form serves as a surety bond guaranteeing that the Principal (contractor) will execute a written contract and provide the required performance and payment bonds if awarded the contract. The bond amount is set at ten percent (10%) of the total bid amount submitted to the Napa County Board of Supervisors. The bid relates to the Redwood Road MPM 5.41 project, which involves repairing approximately 33 linear feet of roadway damage caused by November 2025 storms through installation of a rock slope protection (RSP) buttress at a 1:1 slope, approximately ten feet high and averaging five feet in thickness, followed by reconstruction or repaving of the damaged road surface extending approximately 100 feet.

The bond form requires that the Principal, upon being awarded the contract and within the timeframe specified in the project specifications, must enter into a written contract in prescribed form and file two additional bonds with the Napa County Board of Supervisors Clerk—one for faithful performance and one for payment of labor and materials as required by law. The bond is conditioned upon compliance with the current Standard Specifications of the State of California, Department of Transportation. If the Principal fails to execute the contract and provide the required bonds, the surety remains liable. The form mandates that signatures for both Principal and Surety must be acknowledged before a Notary Public, and if suit is brought upon the bond, the surety shall pay all costs incurred by the obligee, including reasonable attorney's fees as fixed by the court.
