About this file

This Addendum No. 1 is a Bid Q&A document issued by Long Beach Utilities (LBPUD) on August 13, 2026, addressing bidder inquiries for RFQ UD-26-349 concerning Welding Supplies, Parts, and Repair Services. The document modifies and supersedes specific language contained in the original RFQ UD-26-346. Bidders are required to acknowledge and submit this Addendum with their quotation, with failure to do so potentially resulting in disqualification. The addendum includes historical ordering examples for informational reference only, listing 26 items with typical ordering quantities and units of measure, including safety equipment (welding gloves, safety glasses, welding helmets, face shields), consumables (welding rods, grinding wheels, abrasive discs), and tools (chipping hammers, electrode holders, flap wheels). The historical ordering information does not represent guaranteed quantities or commitments, and actual ordering may vary based on operational needs.

The addendum clarifies three key bidding requirements: bidders may submit pricing for individual line items without pricing all categories, allowing vendors to bid on selected item groups such as supplies only or repair services only; delivered pricing is required with all charges, including freight, incorporated into the quoted price, with any separate freight or ancillary charges entered in the "Other Charges" section of the Bid Form; and bidders should refer to page 18 of the Bid Form for required units of measure for each item and may use the "Alternate or Exception" column to propose packaging or unit-of-measure differences. The document was prepared by Tina Kim, Utilities Procurement Representative, and requires bidder acknowledgment through a signature block.

NOTICE TO BIDDERS

ADDENDUM NO. 1: BID Q & A

RFQ UD-26-349

WELDING SUPPLIES, PARTS, & REPAIR SERVICES

This Addendum modifies and supersedes specific language contained in the original RFQ UD‑26‑346.

Bidders must acknowledge and submit this Addendum with their quotation. Failure to do so may result in disqualification.

As of August 13, 2026:

The following are answers to questions submitted:

Question 1. May a bidder submit pricing for selected supply items only (for example, welding PPE and related products) without submitting pricing for the repair service labor line items?

Will bids be considered from vendors offering only supply items, or is pricing required for both the labor and supply portions of the solicitation?

Answer 1. Yes. Bidders may submit pricing for individual line items. Refer to Section IV of the RFQ for details regarding LBPUD’s ability to award contracts for all items or for selected item groups. Bidders must ensure full compliance with all requirements applicable to any item they choose to bid upon.

Question 2. Are bidders expected to quote delivered pricing (freight included), or may freight be quoted separately where applicable?

Answer 2. Delivered pricing is required. Refer to Section X of the RFQ for pricing requirements, including the requirement that all charges be included in the quoted price. Any separate freight or ancillary charges must be entered in the “Other Charges” section of the Bid Form.

Question 3. Are you able to provide any general information regarding historical ordering patterns under this contract? For example, are PPE items such as welding gloves typically ordered by the pair, pack, or case? Safety glasses by the box, replacement lenses by the pack, or welding helmets individually? We are simply trying to better understand typical ordering practices to ensure we structure our pricing appropriately.

Answer 3. Refer to the Supply Items section of the Bid Form (page 18) for the required unit of measure associated with each listed item. Bidders may use the “Alternate or Exception” column to clarify any packaging or unit-of-measure differences they wish to propose.
