About this file

This document appears to be a comprehensive project proposal for an Automated Driving System (ADS) deployment, involving collaboration between transportation agencies in Ohio and Indiana. The project involves a fleet of three Class 8 tractor/trailers equipped with Level 2 automation technology, with deployment planned from February to November, including two months of winter operations. The routes will primarily cover interstate highways in Ohio and Indiana, including sections of I-70, with each of three drivers completing approximately 15 round trips per week.

The proposed ADS system demonstrates capabilities in lane keeping, forward and side obstacle detection, and lane changing, with operational performance evaluated across various environmental conditions including different weather scenarios and lighting. The deployment will collect extensive data on vehicle performance, including telematics, GPS tracking, transmission states, maintenance costs, and driver interactions. Key technical specifications include a maximum operating speed of 65 mph, ability to handle dense traffic and stopped vehicles, and provisions for driver engagement and emergency interventions. The project aims to assess the practical implementation and performance of Level 2 automated driving technology in commercial trucking operations.
